Even though it's properly mounted to the roof I would be still terrified of it squashing my beloved ones.
Question: is it actually aligned with viewing perspective? I got this feeling it could be attached little lower.

This, whilst its cool as fuck, and i would love something like this, I would of gone for a smaller, lighter TV for my own peace of mind.

I actually made the same effing mistake as Dennis did. I don't really know why I made a mistake. when I think about it, there's just no way those thin plywood (ceiling) can support my weight when those were just held by nails. That you have to step on those 2x2 wood beams.

Cool room, but as a fellow parent, no way in hell would I allow my kids to play in there. The room would be under lock and key to keep them out. Kid versus TV spoiler, the kid NEVER WINS... Just isn't work it in my humble opinion.

I'm really interested in a cost breakdown of this project - I mean the cost of everything. The contractors, electronics and other parts, the cost of fixing the hole, the amount of total time spent working on the project, etc... If anyone from LMG is reading this, that would be super sweet if I could take a look at that. Or even a ballpark estimate of the total cost would be awesome.

Speaking from experience fixing the 'Dennis hole' at my previous home, not more than maybe $20-$30 US depending on what tools you already have on hand... Doing that repair is more about the time spent than cost, as cost is minimal. It isn't a load bearing component, as Dennis demonstrated, so there is no worry about structural issues if you are just working on drywall. I got myself tools in the past and they are still working great, probably have about a dozen patches under my belt at this point between my current house and previous house. 

 

Materials - if stored correctly will last you a while

Piece of drywall (make sure thickness is correct)

Joint compound

Joint tape

Drywall screws

Plastic (not needed, but that joint compound when sanded gets EVERYWHERE... I staple plastic to the cieling and make a little 'clean room' in which to work, that turns dirty quickly, but it keeps dust contained.

 

Tools - 1 time purchase

Drywall knife

Joint knife (I believe that is the term) for spreading the compound)

Sanding block or sand paper

Drill with Phillips head bit
