Is this a normal thing to happen?

First, my system:

NZXT H440

Corsair h115i + Noctua NF-A14 3000 pwm + Arctic silver 5

i7 5820k

r9 280x MSI Gaming 3g 

MSI x99a sli plus

etc.

 

This being my first build, I have no idea what normal temperatures and noise are like. I have a couple questions that I would love to have cleared up. (Data is based off of Corsair Link in Celsius, no overclocking anywhere.)

For one, my cpu lid temperature is always about five degrees more than the cooler's temperature that is given. Is that normal? I idle at around 30/35 degrees.

Second, my fans run silent at idle but become audible from 30 feet away once they have to sustain a load (Folding@home on medium is  a good example) and run about 45-50 degrees. I bought the cooler and upgraded fans thinking it would be quiet and cool, but it seems like it's one or the other. Is there something I'm missing? The sound is not especially loud but very noticeable.

Finally, is the H440 blocking noise as it is supposed to, and might the GPU heating up the case too much?

That's normal.

Without knowing your ambient temps we can't tell you if your temps are good, but if your not living in an igloo they sound fine. As for the noise, adjust your fan curve to something more suitable and / or buy quieter fans.

Since the temps are at 50C you can adjust the fan curve to make it silent all the way up to about 75C or so. This is how I have it. You can't tell when my PC is gaming or idle. The GPU is fine and so are those temps.

Just keeping this here as a Well, they are reasonable quiet at reasonable speeds^^ But pretty much no fan of any brand is quiet at 3k rpm.. IMO thath115 should perform quiet well with half that speed.

I just set them to about 1000 rpm at idle and they really are dead silent.

2250 is a different story, which is about what it was at before.

Now I have to put my ear in the case with the window off to hear any fan noise.
