Raspberry Pi!

I've read about it, I've heard about it but,.....

What is it?

All I know that it is a piece of hardware (Please correct me if I'm wrong)

What does it do? What is it used for?

It's a computer with shitty specs but very good specs for the price. It can handle very basic stuff, like running a TS3 server or minecraftserver.

Your definition is right but your examples are blatantly wrong based on my experimentation.

TS3 doesnt have an ARM based server client so is an utter bitch to get to run on it

It doesnt have the horsepower to run a MC server with any sort of quality. MC servers require a fair bit of cpu power

 

They do however make fantastic little mini-seedboxes and VPN hosts. Thats what I use mine for.

NAS: Synology DS218j, 2x 4TB Seagate Ironwolf

Never have I said that minecraft servers would run well :D. And well, my ts3 server is running at this very moment, so ayyyyy

Eh, mine was a bitch, maybe its changed now but when I tried it you had to use a debian based x86 emulator which was buggy as hell and a complete resource hog. Might be better on the pi3 though, im on a 2, ive got my box coloed when that runs out in a couple of months im upgrading to a 3 :)

Now that the question was answered, I'm genuinely interested to know why someone would go on a forum to ask such a question.

 

I'm not saying people shouldn't ask questions, it's just that nowadays, a simple online search would've answered that question within seconds.

 

Again, I'm genuinely interested, I'm not trolling or saying that you shouldn't ask any questions.

it seems this topic is mostly off-topic rambling.

 

Thanks for answering, like I said, I was simply curious as my process seems to be different than most ... for example, when I want to learn about a subject I'll usually fill my YouTube "watch later" of video about the subject and read articles about it. To me asking a question on a forum doesn't seems to be the best way to learn about something (again not trolling, it's genuinely the way I see things, also this doesn't mean we shouldn't ask questions on forums!).

Thanks for answering, like I said, I was simply curious as my process seems to be different than most ... for example, when I want to learn about a subject I'll usually fill my YouTube "watch later" of video about the subject and read articles about it. To me asking a question on a forum doesn't seems to be the best way to learn about something (again not trolling, it's genuinely the way I see things, also this doesn't mean we shouldn't ask questions on forums!).

Yes that is filled with off topic rambling, but just to make myself clear, I love hanging out in this forum!

Why? Because none of my friends are tech savvys, even if they are, if I tell them something like "NVidia just launched their VR-Ready GTX1080, with 8GB GDDR5X and with a speed of 1.73GHz" they'd be like "Which language you speaking" Basically they're just not interested in all this PC tech!

 

Now, just as you said that you add videos to your watch later list etc..... 

This is how I learn - When I hear or see something (Tech related) which I don't know, I first post a question on the forum! After I get a  few answers and I get an idea what it is, I browse, watch YouTube videos and all that stuff. Basically I just want to interact with people in the forum.

 

For example, my previous post was-  "What is thermal throttling?"

 

I did check out those websites, I never thought Raspberry Pi could be programed to do so many tasks! We can create our very own, unique gadgets!
