What temps do you think I'll have on the cpu/ what is a better cooler to get if its not attainable to get temps under 75C?

That depends on how much of voltage you'll need to get to 4.2 GHz (I could boot into Windows at 4.2 Ghz with my 1600x, but that required around 1.45V, which is not safe for daily use, wasn't stable on top of that). Also, depends on what case you use, as case with poor airflow will result in high CPU temperatures under load.

I have the h400i which I saw had good airflow so i think i should be good unless its wrong. I heard ab the voltage too, was told not to go over 1.4V so I'll have to see it when I do the overclock. But other than temps the PSU is ok right?

Yes, PSU is ok.

Of course, there are better units on the market, but I really don't see a reason for you to upgrade right now

You'll be fine.

You could buy a better quality one though, if you have the cash.

I need some advice guys. I'm doing a silent build - I'm looking for a super quiet PSU. I'm considering either the Corsair RMx1000w or the Seasonic Prime Gold 1000w. Going overkill on the wattage so the fan hopefully doesn't turn on. Reviews that I've read seem to imply that the Corsair fan stay off for longer. Should I go for it over the Seasonic?

And that's bullshit.

Because a quiet PSU is quiet.

To go overkill gives you nothing, except for loud fans in some cases (Bitfenix Whisper M for example but also some others).

SO if you want to have a quiet PSU, you need to get a quiet PSU, not a 250% overkill one. That's just a waste of money.

Fairly quiet is the lower wattage Corsair Version, the Seasonic is not really, be quiet Straight Power 11, 450/550 or 750W, Bitfenix Formula and Whisper M in the lower wattage versions (450 and 550W).

Modular cables are as much of a personal choice as the colour of the PSU is.

Yeah, but we're talking about a unit with 1 ATX Cable, 1 PCIe Cable with 2 Connectors, 1 CPU Cable and two Drive Cables (IIRC 3 or 4 Connectors on each cable).

There ain't much left to manage.

For 750W+ I agree with you. There Cable Managment really shines and is really useful.

For 400-550W units? naa, not really.

We talking 'bout 1-2 Cables or so with a normal Game PC.

....wich ignores the electronics noise a PSU can make and there are many comments about loud electronics with Seasonic Fanless ones.

Especially since Fanless PSU don't have a good track record when it comes to reliability, obviously...

There are other/better options. For example be quiet Straight Power 11.
