Go to solution Solved by Spotty,

This is a legacy list. It is no longer being updated.

The new PSU Tier List can be found here:

I like to do that with the naming scheme because people will ask all the time. Helps with dumb naming schemes like Cooler Master's MasterWatt series.

The Focus Gold is available in semimodular and (supposedly, you can't seem to buy them) non-modular versions, the F+ is fully modular

Focus Gold is only Semi-Modular. https://seasonic.com/focus-gold
Focus Plus Gold is fully modular. https://seasonic.com/focus-plus-gold

Also less warranty on the Focus Gold (7 years vs 10). AFAIK they are different units under the hood with different platforms, but might need some confirmation on that.

I know there are other units also in Tier 2 that are based on the Focus Gold's platform, but IMO should probably be some separation between the FPG and the FG. Not saying the FPG deserves Tier 1, because it doesn't. Likewise I'm not saying the Focus Gold should be put in Tier 3 with units like the Corsair CSM/CX/CXM... But yeah... It's a tough one. Tier 2.1? :D

Oh well, doesn't really matter. If PSU manufacturers were transparent with their naming schemes we wouldn't need tier lists like this.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

What are your system specs, budget, location?

A Corsair 550W RMx would work but that might be way overkill, we don't know. It also might not exist where you live.

i5 8400 and 1060 6gb or 1070ti, i only not buy GPU yet, still cant choose both of them bcs still buy another part

if i go to 1070 ti can i go with 650w PSU? or buy 750w??

The Corsair RMx is the best unit in that category, although a 550 G2 or Focus + 550 Gold would be good as well

RMx vs seasonic focus plus gold which one is better??

450w would still be fine e, even with a 1070 (or a 1080 for that matter)...

A 450W PSU would power that with OC without issue.

The Straight Power 11 has multi rail and a better fan. The RMx has a longer warranty and it's easier to find custom cable sets for.

With a 2080Ti, maybe...

With a 1080Ti 550W is ok.

Get whatever is cheaper.

Flip a coin, both are very good though personally I'd take the better quality fan and Multi-Rail OCP of the BQ Unit

I'd get the Straight Power 11, better fan, no Semi Fanless Bullshit, no PCIe-Y Cables (they have 2 connectors for one 12pin connector).

And a good bit of money stays in Germany!

Thanks for reply's Straight Power 11 it is then =)

10$ difference only..

One question doh..

Don't know much about these things, but will 550w unit with 18-20a single rail be enough to power 1080ti? Even with lil overlock?

20a is around 240ish watts right?

Fairly sure the third and fourth PCIe rails go to each of their own PCIe connectors, so that's 480W through PCIe.

Ähm, you can't do that because of the cables that come with the PSU, you have to connect the 1080 to both rails.

Both PCIe cables come with a 12pin connector on one side but only one cable connected to it. So to connect the 1080 to one rail, you have to order a different cable :)

As for the Rails: +12V3 and 4 goes to the PCIe connectors, 2 should be CPU and 1 for ATX and Peripherials.

Thanks for advice dudes, but I went with LC power for now since it was emergency, but will surely get something stronger in 2019 like that beforementioned xilence or the better seasonic ones :)

Oh i tought 1080ti used 1x8-pin not 2x8-pin.. If it use 2 rails thats 2x the juice xD Then it will be ok..

No, that would have been the 1070-

The 1080ti has IIRC 6+8pin, some 2x8.
