Buy it, that's a solid deal.

Perhaps, but it makes a lot of sense to be pinned imo.  It's an important thread, referred to probably more than any other single thread on here.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Chuck the Coolermaster Thunder M in tier 6, it is a CWT CPM.

The Coolermaster Thunder is CWT CPA, probably tier 6 as well.

Interesting.

Looks like the Thunder 450W and 500W are different platforms to the 550W+ ones though. Single 12V rail vs. dual on the lower power ones.

Edit: the higher Wattage Thunder is made by Enhance, it's probably still T6. At least they have PFC, I think

I got that supernova 750 p2... Everything works great now. Now I'm stress testing my CPU ... from 4.1Ghz on old PSU to 4.7GHz on p2! Thanks!

But I have another question.

Now I have my OCZ Fatality 750W just laying in a box. My brother has a Corsair CX600. Which one should I choose for his PC? OCZ has more watts, but CX is one tier higher. His rig is pretty old, but he is planning on buying new parts (CPU, MOBO, RAM and GPU).

Any ideas?

Thanks :)

The CX would be the one I'd choose out of the 2.

What is his current specs?

What is he planning to upgrade it with?

Although it's not ideal, I would say the CX should suffice if you don't have the dosh for a higher quality PSU :D

Let's just say that the VP450 is fantastic if you have a low power GPU or no GPU Andy have no money. I've built using one before and it's not awful. That said, I'd put it at a low tier 4 position. It's an OK unit.

It depends, the NEW CX models are kinda "OK" as in no fireballs, explosions or whatever.

The oldest of old CXs are T5s but those came out in 2010 so I don't expect any that were bought around that time to still be alive.

And T4 PSUs are generally fine, they might not protect your data in the event of a power loss or last very long but they won't catch on fire at full load if you treat them correctly.

If it's a semi modular one, it's definitely at least Rev. 2.0
