Audio Setups

Torand
PC optical output>Benchmark DAC1 USB>connected with balanced XLR cables to McIntosh MA6300 Integrated amplifier>B&W 805D speakers.

I also sometimes use the Benchmark DAC1 as a headphone amplifier when listening to my Audio Technica ATH AD1000's.

I'm planning on getting a new headphone soon but I'm so confused on what to get. Had my eye on the Tesla T1 but then heard mixed opinions on it.

did you get sold on that amp at bjorns???

Nah, I bought it because I knew I wanted a new McIntosh Integrated amp and it was the only one I could afford at the time haha.

At the moment, I'm using:

Speakers: Polk Audio RTi A1

AMP: (a vintage) Technics stereo receiver, its about 15 years old now! However soon to be upgraded to a Marantz PM6004

USB DAC: HRT Music Streamer II

Headphones: Bowers & Wilkins P5, just picked up a C5 (and am very impressed!)

After I get a new integrated amplifier, I want to upgrade my speakers to either a Kef Q300, B&W 683, or Tannoy DCT6. Still undecided there...

@STiTron: Quads as in Quads speakers (the alternative being a quadrophonic setup :p)?! I haven't heard much of them beyond mentions of some audio forums here and there. Never actually seen or heard one nor do I know the price range of them?

Audio/speakers

-wireworld starlight 1m usb a to mini b cable

-musical fidelity vdac II (...it sounds brilliant..takes all of that audio converting outside of the computer)..I think that internal sound cards do a horrible job, so much electrical noise inside a computer...

-wireworld oasis 6 audio interconnects

-shunyata venom 3 power cable for amp

-rega brio-r amplifier

Kimber bi wire w/ banana plugs terminations on either end

-woofer wire is 8vs

-tweeter wire is 4vs

-wharfdale diamond 10.1 bookshelf speakers in rosewood

Schiit Audio has some well regarded headphone amps for $250/350. I tried there $100 one paired with their matching DAC and was impressed by the price/performance ratio.

I love the DAC and integrated Amp :)

Quad speakers..... They are bookshelf ones.. check out gcaudio.com

That is where I buy all of my audio stuff. The guy sells out of his house and this the god of audio.

He has everything from $1000 setups to $100,000 setups....

I would really recommend the rega brio-r for the integrated amp. I have one and it is amazing. They also make a matching dac that schreds....

You should grab an audio research setup for those speakers. Grab one of the pre amps and amplifiers.. They sound brilliant.

My friends father had a $120,000 set up with audio research pre amp, amp, some crazy turn table, and the wilson watt puppies. The sound truly had depth to it....a million times better than live shows..

Thinking of getting another set of headphones around $150, will anything in that price range be a upgrade over the V6 I already have?

I have a weird setup.

I have two PCs, one for normalt use (internet, music ect) and one for gaming.

I use the Wyred 4 Sound mINT amp, which powers my PSB Imagine Mini wall mounted speakers.

I was supposed to use USB from mye normal PC, but there's an ground problem which gives sparks, so I use optical.

The soundcard in that one is Asus Essence STX

Fromt the Game PC, I use the onboard soundcard (Asus P7P68 m-ATX?).

I have the Auzentech Prelude 7.1, but I've got the booting problem with that one.

This feeds into the W4S amp with analog, and sends the other 5.1 channels into Logitech surround setup (senter, sub, surround).

So while gaming I get full surround, with two volume controls :D

It actually works very well.

When not using the speakers, I use the AKG K-701 headphones.

At the moment into the Asus soundcard, but normally into my Creek OBH-21SE Headphone amp.

Sorry for the few off Capital letters in my posts, it does it on its own when I Write in English, since my OS is in another Language. It's annoying.

Sound card: TC Electronic Konnekt Live

Headphones: Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 ohm (since I wanted the option of driving them at decent volumes off an iPod Shuffle)

Speakers: Altec Lansing FX-6021 2.1, pretty decent speakers.

Turntable: An old Philips Electronic 677 from the 80's

Currently looking at buying a Harman Kardon HK 980, Marantz PM6004 or an old Tandberg (TR-2025, TR-2055 or my parents' TR-200) amplifier and a set of hi-fi monitors to go along.

UPDATE:

Found my dad's old ITT 3025 25w (RMS) speakers in the basement, where they've been resting for around 20 years. And they are from the mid 70's. Hooked them up to his TR-200, and they sound amazing. They obviously can't tear the whole place apart in sheer volume output, but they are decent for the average living room. Tried some different genres on them, and anything rock related or anything with real instruments really is very good on them. Modern electronic with a lot of pounding bass is another story - at high volumes, i.e. But I'm totally fine with that, since that kind of music isn't really my kind of thing. ;)

Type of File: m4a (alac) at 1500+ kbps on harddrive (no compression os because of nas)

For listening over my speakers: Logitech G510 USB soundcard (I know) --> YAMAHA AX-570 natural sound amp (old but awesome) --> KEF 303x2 and sometimes a little Logitech sub for a little punch in music

For listening over my headphones: Logitech G510 USB soundcard --> YAMAHA AX-570 natural sound amp --> Sennheiser HD449 (best for €75)

For listening on my smartphone: Motorola Razr Maxx, using alac (PowerAmp) --> Sennheiser HD449. Thinking of picking an mobile headphone amp up but not shure yet

My parents have a Bose lifestyle 25 5.1 Home cinema set tuned by me

Once a month soundtechnician at my church, use my headphones for monitoring to when doing that..

Hehe - currently two QSC KW122's behind me and two QSC K8's as front LR fill. There's also a KW181 sub and then processed through DBX GEQ, comp/limiter and Xover. Soon to add a full soundcard but USB interface with my mixer will suffice for now. Gets more fun when I have one or two JBL SRX728's in here while playing MOH (dual 18" subwoofers. Is 5kw of raw power needed? No. Is it fun? Yes.

Gotta love my job.

Also as offered by the OP - feel free to ask me anything audio, I certainly don't know everything but I work in live audio so I can probably help you out :)

Stock on-board sound card on my Asus Sabertooth Z77 until I feel like I want to spend the cash on a external sound card (I know I want to but I should keep pinching the penny). Splitting the audio to some old Logitech 2.1 speakers and Sennheiser HD 215s. Will probably upgrade to a Xonar DX or something in the future.
