LGA s1151?

I just bought LGA 1151 motherboard and LGA s1151 CPU (6600K). What the hell is s1151? will it fit my motherboard's socket?

i think youve been reading intel ark for too long, yes the 6600k will work on the LGA 1151 board

What motherboard did you buy?

It will work if it's 1151 for sure.

I'm just wondering if you went for Z170 or something else.

For K version CPU, Z170 is a must.

Says LGA1151 in the description a bit down on the site so everything is absolutely fine. I don't know why they put the s infront of there though. Might just be a very weird typo.

Well, I'm not that dumb lol, I've done research before buying something.

Mobo: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5720#ov

I didn't want to offend you, but if you don't know that i5 6600k will fit on it, I just had to check.

Also on that link that you provided ... there is list of CPUs that are supported by that motherboard.

and if it's i5 6600k, that's the only version of it.

So yeah :)

But you can't figure out that there is no such thing as LGA s1151?

whatever.

No need for salt here.

Which he obviously did on the Z170 thing. You go and find me the article that specifically states that there is no such thing as an LGA s1151. Maybe he thought it's a rare thing that not even google knows something about and yes this can happen at times (even though in electronics rather unlikely to happen but as someone who's new to all this better be safe than sorry).

It's not a thing, doesn't even follow Intel's naming scheme. An S cpu indicates a lower clock speed (lower power consumption) and is a suffix, such as the Core i5 2500s. AMD uses the -e suffix, FX 8320e.

EDIT: Sorry, I thought you were thinking that maybe it's a rare thing. And I never meant to be rude, I had just found it ironic that he researched the Z170 board but didn't know that there is no such thing as LGA s1151
