Its a vicious cycle man. But I will resist!

I am a survivor 🙂

And I will just go right to the top next year when everyone jumps to AM5 😄

Edit:

Or the year after..

You have power house 5600X. Finely tweaked memory.

AM5, more power housing from AMD, I'm holding out for this too.

But will keep my eye on Intel. You just never know. Last time around AMD's fastness didn't last too long.

If Intel changes up the architecture on 7nm and 5nm, we could see some really strong competition. Which they offer now actually.

Thanks man, this thing practically runs itself lol.. but not with me 😄

I probably wont upgrade for a bit.. this thing is pretty decent.

Always keeping my eye on Intel.. the next one is the one you want for sure..

I still have 3 Intel rigs on the shelf so I wouldn't have a problem going back.. home is where the heart is 😄

But honestly man, this AMD rig has impressed the shit out of me. It has surpassed all of my expectations. Its more stable than my last Intel systems were.. like wtf indeed. I do wish it was a little more fun to OC, but I say that with every platform. Although things do get exciting as you get closer to 5ghz..

If this supply thing wasn't happening right now, this would be such a good time for computers. I would happily run an Intel and AMD. Both rip shit up and both are fun af imo.

It's a great time for computers!! They're all sold out XD. The profits hit max. If you sold all your product, then damn! Nice job! 🙂

Post a screenshot of your score in this thread with cpuz so we know the clock speed (dont crop the screenshot)

I was just thinking, there might be an issue with that.  I've noticed that on my system, I have to be very quick to grab the screenshot after the benchmark has finished, before the CPU has downclocked due to now being idle.  Otherwise, if I wait a while to get the screenshot, CPU-Z might only say my CPU is running at, say, 0.8 or 1.4 GHz, whereas it had run at 4.2 GHz for the actual Cinebench test.

(I do have the various power saving / speed step / whatever features enabled, so when my i7-4790K is idle, it can clock all the way down to 0.8 GHz.  I'm aware some people set their CPUs to run at max speed all the time, but I prefer to save power / clocks / temps when not under load.)

Here's a more extreme example screenshot of CPU-Z showing a much lower clock speed than was used during the Cinebench test:

1561191485_Screenshot(50).thumb.png.9f5ebc66cbe045f92160767b3897e704.png

Do you REALLY think you'd get that kind of a score at 0.8 GHz (or 799.53 MHz)? 😊

(Now if I could actually have that much IPC improvement in my next CPU, that would be nice.  Tentatively thinking about building a new PC around late 2022, maybe a bit after that, depending on prices, DDR5 availability, how much I've saved up by then, etc.)

How that was done:

  1. Launch XTU
  2. Set multiplier = 8 on all cores (except 9 for 1-core)
  3. launch Cinebench R23 (btw it still says "4 cores, 8 threads at 4 GHz", cause the BIOS is set to 44/43/42/42 multiplier.  Another time when I was nerfing in BIOS to 2 cores w/o H/T at 2 GHz to compare IPC between a Core 2 Duo T7250, it did say "2 cores @ 2 GHz" - screenshots in spoiler below.)
  4. Launch 8 instances of CPU-Z, arrange windows, select the tabs, as shown.  (In the main CPU tab, it shows "x9.0 ( 8 - 9 )" under multiplier if it's launched AFTER nerfing the CPU in XTU.)
  5. XTU: reset multiplier to stock (44/43/42/42)
  6. Run the Multi Core test in CB R23.  (BTW I have a bunch of other apps running so my score is a bit lower than it normally would be.)
  7. Bring the 8 CPU-Z windows back to the front (was a bit tedious, had to do it 1 at a time, maybe could have been done faster if I'd done some steps in a bit different order, like waiting to launch CPU-Z until after the next step.)
  8. XTU: Set multiplier to 8 on all cores, including single-core this time.
  9. Close XTU
  10. Win+PrintScrn
  11. Re-open XTU
  12. Reset multiplier to stock
  13. Close XTU
  14. upload screenshot to LTT forum / this post.

Spoiler contains the other screenshots I mentioned that show the 4790K nerfed to 2 cores @ 2 GHz, and the T7250.

Spoiler

First, the "nerfed" 4790K:

Then, the stock T7250:

Mmmm I like this single run version of R23 Benchmate runs, its much better for my CPU then the minimal 10min setting 😄. Im quite proud of breaking the 16k mark.

So I didn't read the OP as requested (well almost) I see R23 is a go, but other question why the cpuz screenshot, isnt that useless as it will only show *idle* speeds and not the incredibly high speeds when Im actually running the tests? 😛

Haven't played in a while

Here goes:

CBR23.thumb.png.27116ace821164f5411b149ba3d5aefa.png

Turbo ratios are 51x -53x (4 active cores). This is 5100mhz during multicore, 5.3ghz during single.

Only 28 25 points away from catching up to the reference 7700K at R23 single-core with my 4790K... Pretty sure I could get the rest of the way and maybe even further with slightly better cooling than I have currently.

Ok im gonna try this also. Just build a new system

Here is my system. No OC, all on auto in bios except memory, where i had to manually set it to 1900Mhz and downgrade my own to 3800Mhz, pushed the timing a little down to 17/21/21/42. I have not yet studied how to OC the 5950X

Oh I should have gotten screen shots!

AMD Athlon 200GE @4.0ghz @1.41 volts with DDR4 3200. Did a solid 1002 in R20. If I remember I'll get shots this weekend. Running under a Wraith Prism at about 60C, it's only Cinebench stable though and probably not ok to run those volts all the time lol. Consumes 45W peak under Prime95 torture.

Fun to mess with, hugely apparent difference between 3.2ghz and 4.0 just in how fast the system feels. I've got a more stable PSU coming so I'll see if I can drop volts but lol 4gigglehurts
