This is actually a Sempron 2800+, the motherboard BIOS is just seems to have issues recognising anything not labelled Athlon or Duron. Can't find a BIOS update for it either:

I need to do the unlock mod - using the Athlon XP as reference:

Well, It bummed out at 4550 MHz, But it's running at 4525 OK.

4.5ghz is really good for a 3600.

When the only working version of CPU-z is barely legible...
Anyway, did a re-run after finding the right BIOS. Was on version 1.4, and 1.9 is when Sempron support was added:

These processors sure are good at math... It looks like my sample clocks to around:

  • 4.5ghz both CCDs at around 1.25v (1,18v after droop) (70.5c)
  • 4.675ghz both CCD's at around 1.3v (1.224v after droop) (77.5c)
  • 4.7ghz both CCD's at around 1.35v (1.26v after droop) (83.8c)
  • max clocks and volts shown below (didnt check droop but assume similar to above) (90c~)

These voltages might have been higher than required, I looked for score regression/app crash and then upped voltage. CCD1 on my chip hits a real wall at 4,675mhz and needs considerably more volts to clock higher, interestingly its also about 8-10c cooler than CCD0.

stock clocks vs. PBO in R20:

  • stock of 3.95ghz at around 1.05v (57.4c)
  • Ryzen Master PBO of 4.2ghz at around 1.18v (71c)

Seems like PBO all core is being quite conservative compared to manual overclocking.

Im using a Thermaltake Water 3.0 360mm AIO on the cpu, fans maxed, pump ramping from 40-60c

Memory is 4400c19 vipers single rank four sticks, running RTC safe profile for these sticks. my FCLK is absoltuley maxed, might be a touch unstable but not showing in memtest, have had a USB 2.0 port disconnect so far but need more time to tell.

I think my scores are simply average for a budget mid level gaming build.    Current specs are Ryzen 5 3600x, Trident Z G.Skill16GB DDR4 3200 RAM,  ASUS TUF B550 Gaming Plus, WD Black 500GB M.2 NVME SSD.  EVGA Geforce RTX 2070 Super (couldn't find the 3070 I was after...and  I got it just before AMD released their 5700 line).   1089764288_2020-11-15(1).thumb.png.52821c61c3423402356b8e47a6617844.png

Well, after installing a few Windows updates and rebooting (didn't want to, uptime was only 62 days or so, but some things weren't working right and for some reason I suspect Windows doesn't exactly love it when you get to where your pagefile usage is upwards of 4x your installed RAM), here's a couple R23 scores on my 6700K...

Stock*1...

761220781_Screenshot(1808).thumb.png.4f75431ce15b8e682a25bb2fa24c4512.png

and with a little OC...

875088632_Screenshot(1799).thumb.png.ee7d11f43a23a1e49e6e52870fef8df3.png

If I finesse it a bit more (or use our 18" or 20" high-velocity fan next to the open freezer door in the laundry room) I wonder if I could coax a little bit more out of it?  XTU was periodically flashing (in the lower right) that it was thermal throttling, and power limit throttling, but it still somehow managed to stay at 4.6*2 GHz clock for the all-cores test.  Tried 4.7 on the all-core, but it crashed - system rebooted, no BSOD.

Interestingly, when I did the single-core test at 4.6 GHz, it scored 2 points higher than at 4.7 GHz. (1214 vs 1212)  Tried 4.8 and it crashed.  (Maybe fiddling with voltage offset and running the fan next to the freezer might help? :P )

*1 - I run 24/7 at stock clocks (including not applying XMP to the RAM, but idk if it matters cause it's DDR4-2133 CL15 RAM anyway, and BIOS has no OC options, only XTU), but I do undervolt about -150 mV offset.  CPU power under load when not running Prime95 30.3 small FFT tops out around ~65-70 watts.

*2 - well almost 4.6 GHz.  I'd like to know how to get it (and my desktop's 4790K) to actually hit the round-number frequency (or overshooting a little might be okay too), as in actually do 4200.00 MHz with a 42 multiplier (or like 4202.08 or whatever), and not just miss by a hair like 4193.81 or 4199.99.

this result is achieved with 3300X clocked at all core 4.4Ghz OC and memory at DDR4 3600 CL18(dual channel
i didn't do much advanced tuning, all i did is enable memory try it and MSI Game Boost in the BIOS

Plz, we need more Socket A:

Windows Me is more stable with the same drivers than Windows 98SE (also has the same performance). Plus it displays everything correctly.

I can appreciate this bench. At some point, I'll have some socket A stuff on the bench.

For now, running Socket 939 With Opteron 165 .

I know it's not Cinebench, but PCMark04, thought yous might dig it any ways.

This was last night.

sorry bmp is XP default format and the forum isn't capable of making it viewable.

Do what I do - the 3 main versions of CB+various CPUZ on a USB stick that goes everywhere. You never know when you'll have the chance to benchmark something different.

Personally I am pretty impressed with these results. I'm sure there are higher scores with the same cpu, but I'm happy enough to stop tinkering. At least until the next non-beta bios is released.

Setup:

Gigabyte Aorus Elite X570

Ryzen 9 5900x

EVGA CLC 240 with Arctic P12 fans (if anyone has an EVGA aio, do yourself a massive favor and swap the fans. Almost anything else is quieter)

Crucial Ballistix Elite 3600mhz CL16, running 3800mhz CL16.

Fclk 1900mhz

Clocks:

Multithreaded stays steady at 4615mhz on all cores, and bounces up to 4650 occasionally on a few cores.

Single Threaded maxes at about 5060mhz, and averages probably around 4950mhz.

I get a max of around 5140mhz while doing light tasks.

Settings:

PBO

PBO limits are set to Motherboard

5x scaler

AutoOC is +200mhz

Thermal Throttle limit is Auto

Curve Optimizer: Cores 0-2 are -17, cores 3-4 are -15, cores 5-11 are -35. Best cores are 3 & 4.

For day to day stability I have CO set to -15 for cores 0-2, and -12 for 3-4 while leaving the rest at -35. The above settings will randomly crash sometimes with very light loads like sitting on the desktop or browsing the internet.

Yeah, it's pretty impressive! My 3600 topped out at 4.3ghz OC'ed unless I pushed voltage over 1.325v. On zen 3, I feel like an all core OC is a waste unless you are strictly running multicore heavy tasks. The single core boost is just so much higher than you can get with an all core now.

The Curve Optimizer feature is also really cool, and is responsible for the higher boosts here. I use a less aggressive setting for daily use though, and it boosts to around 4.5ish in cinebench. I'm pretty sure this feature is only on zen 3 chips though.
