Man, you're losing to a stock 3930K... Overclock that chip, and close all background applications

Main:  1650 v2   @ 4,6GHz   -   X79 Deluxe                -   GTX 1080 @ 2000MHz   -   24GB DDR3 @ 2400MHz / CL10

Side:   i7-4790K @ 4,5GHz   -   Maximus 7 Hero        -   GTX 1070 @ 2114MHz    -  16GB DDR3 @ 2666MHz / CL12

You should be able to run 4-4-4 on the timing at that speed even on fb ram I would think :)

Thanks, I have adjusted the timing now. 4-4-4 seems stable at with a ~2% uplift in Cb, so it should be helping a little. I'll report back when I've done further tweaking. I'm pretty sure I can get it above 850 Cb.

  1. That voltage makes my Xeon X5450 look like the poorest binning ever
  2. God my P5Q Deluxe is shit when it comes to DDR2 clock speeds (it barely tolerates 2x1GB DDR2 1066 5-6-6-18 @ 2.2V, my P5K VM handled the sticks at 4-5-5-14 2.1V)
  3. The performance in games that use 4 threads should be similar to an i5 4440 or Ryzen 3 1200.

I think +1.4 Vcore on these chips is a quite a bit though :P

Intel Skulltrail: 2x Core 2 Quad QX9775 - Intel D5400XS - 16GB FB DDR2-800 CL5 Quad Channel

EVGA SR-2 Classified - 2x Xeon X5675 4.2GHz - 24GB DDR3-1830 C10 Triple Channel

I ran my Xeon at 1.45V to get 4.4GHz. Still don't know how a CM Eclipse and Siedon 120V could dissipate the sheer amount of heat. And if I remember correctly, 1.45V is the safe limit according to Intel.

Ive closed down the other apps now and my score went up abit for multi threaded, single threaded stayed about the same, I ain't confident enough to overclock this chip yet.

Gonna leave it at this score for now. Still 4.05 GHz, but with improved timings. Going to need a better Northbridge cooling solution and active RAM cooling before pushing it further as it's getting awfully toasty. Still not too shabby for a 10 year old platform.

Yeah, I'm ordering some 40mm fans as it appears I don't have any anymore. Water blocks would be neat as well, but that's not going to happen unfortunately.

Yeah, this was the 4th 4930K failing to beat my OG 4930K. Needed 0.4V more @ 4,5GHz, and 0.5V more @ 4,6 than OG chip required...

5 different chips tried in total, and none can do higher than 4,6GHz >:( I'm done binning 4930Ks.

Trying out the 1650 v2 tomorrow. Let's hope it beats OG, so I can free myself from ever hearing 4930K again! 9_9
