Every time I increase the Core Clock and Memory Clock..my scores get LOWER. Odd. I reset everything in MSI Afterburner and my Core Clock was actually 950 stock, must have increased to 994 a long time ago and forgot. :P

Is quite common for your scores to go down if you overclock the memory on your gpu my gtx670 and my mates hd7870 get lower scores in heaven 4 and valley if i oc the memory. Try just overclocking the core.

Thats a bad score and would annoy me being 99 . Another 25mhz on that core and you would be over 100

You should keep trying until it hits 1234. Or push it to 5GHz and see if you can get 1337 :D.

I've heard that nearly every processor has a wall. While I haven't be brave enough to try stupid volts I would be suprised if I couldn't pass 4.8 on my sandy bridge to save my life.

Yeah, I know all processors do have an eventual wall the thing is since almost all of the 2011 motherboards where designed for SNB-E the new bioses that add support for IVY-E are are quite immature.

Some people have been originally stuck at like 4.2GHz and with a bios update have been able to get to around 4.6 and now most people have been finding another wall although some board manufacturers are hinting towards even better optimizations coming soon.

That's still actually pretty good considering your running a sandy i5! :P

It's impressive to see 5GHz on sandy regardless. I've done it on mine but it was only 2 cores w/o hyper threading. At which point I almost didn't care if it was bench stable because at that point if almost might as well been a 5GHz pentium. :P

Haha thanks :) At 1.43V is actually did 3/4 of the Cinebench before BSOD'ing. I'll probably be stable at round 1.48-1.50V, but I don't feel like trying that out yet ;)

Small world, I have my wife's old 920 running in a HTPC (faulty motherboard that isn't as annoying in such a use, fixed her box with an FX-6100).

 

I've always wondered how worth it the hyper-threading is. Sure there are times it makes a good difference. But there are lots of others times like when gaming that I almost wonder if an i3 would be good enough. So I hop back and forth on whether I should drop to an i5 next upgrade, stick with an i7, or use this until it breaks and then make up my mind.

 

Hyper thread suxs in like 70% of all cases will hurt gpu performance. On intel chips  they are not real cores, only reason amd has a edge in some tests is because they are true cores even though they are weak. In my bench above I have hyper thread turned off for gpu test and left on for cpu test. Ya dig?
