right 5960x on a h81 board sounds right

I'd rather spend them on games and real life...

Ya sure, it'll fit just fine :D

Clearly the only thing you should spend money on is PC parts. It's the most sound investment out there.

Pretty happy with the result for a 30€ CPU :D

Temperatures are not an issue (Tcase is 80°C), but I just can't get the BCLK over 221.

if you raise the pice frequency you can go over the 220-222bclk wall. 110ish should do the trick :)

Xeon e5649@4.51 GHz: 1040 cb

(not really stable - had several runs that crashed while taking the screenshot...)

Edit: Holy S***! I booted under 4.6, lets see if the bench runs!

Edit: YES!

bsywMtg.jpg

After 20 reboots and 19 crashed runs I finally have a usable result! Anything but stable, but 4.6 GHz on a e Series 1366 Xeon :D

I doubt I can catch the 3930K on my current cooling solution - a 30€ Air Cooler :D

CPU is delidded, using thermal grizzly conductonaut on the die and arctic silver 5 between the IHS and the heatsink (NH-D14). Vcore is 1.45, and max temps were around 94C.

Somebody remind me to dig out my old 775 System again... My q9550 did ~400 cb on 3.6 GHz(my old 24/7 overclock), and I'm sure I can finally use some of the potential of the motherboard I got at the time I bought that system used... Asus Maximus Extreme x38, now that I don't have to be fearing for the poor CPU :D

Also just ordered an e5620 for my x58 system, let's see how far I can push a 6€ CPU...

Everything was smooth btw, the lagginess of it I can explain by high latency connecting from Toronto to the LTT server based in nowhere since Canada is huge

Yes I just need to upgrade this BGA socket cpu to an i9 5960x that everyone was talking about (still same 5th gen so it can be upgraded, I checked) then I will have a PC that's faster than speed of light.

14 cb has to be a record for this forum :D

...Hmmm... I wonder how well the 60W 45nm 1366 CPUs overclock... I might order one, they are very cheap after all.

Once my second 1366 CPU arrives - I'll have to take off the cooler in any case, so why not dig out my old system again?

Ugh, this got me now. Just ordered another 775 CPU - an e6320 for 1.89€ including shipping :P

Sadly x38 doesn't work (well) with the 771 Xeons...
