UK Pounds- New laptop for parents

So today I got asked by my parents to find them a new laptop. They complain that their current 2009 one is too old.

What I'm looking for is

  • under £300,
  • intel core i3
  • SSD (doesnt need to have lots of space)
  • Windows 10 (can upgrade from 8 if needed)
  • 4GB+ RAM

They use the laptop once or twice a week for word processing, emails, internet stuff you can't do on an iPad and mainly iTunes

Any recommendations?

HDDs are good enough. My 2009 Core 2 Duo laptop boots faster into 10 from an HDD than my windows 7 which is on an SSD.

If they're just doing very basic stuff, try to get a used business class laptop like a thinkpad, latitude, or an elitebook. They are the easiest to customize and very cheap.

CPU - FX 8350 @ 4.5GHZ GPU - Radeon 5700  Mobo - M5A99FX Pro R2.0 RAM - Crucial Ballistix 16GB @ 1600 PSU - Corsair CX600M CPU Cooler - Hyper 212 EVO Storage - Samsung EVO 250GB, WD Blue 1TB

PC - NZXT H510 Elite, Ryzen 5600, 16GB DDR3200 2x8GB, EVGA 3070 FTW3 Ultra, Asus VG278HQ 165hz,

Mac - 1.4ghz i5, 4GB DDR3 1600mhz, Intel HD 5000.  x2

Endlessly wishing for a BBQ in space.

This, just reinstall the OS onto an SSD.

You won't get trouble with Scan, I have used them for over 10years, and NEVER had an issue.  I just had them send a new PSU to my door, and a courier to collect, and had perfect dialogue with them on every step of the way, even down to booking the courier in the afternoon to collect the old PSU unit.
