Inb4 more issues.

Quote

Power draw is not an issue on regular RX 480, it is something all current cards do which is exceed power draw, even a 960 does, but for some reason people are making a lot of noise on the RX 480 about it, whereas this is nothing new and effects plenty of other GPU's.

It won't harm your mainboard and AMD are even releasing a new driver on 5th July next week to resolve such issue any way. smile.gif

All the details I know right now on Nitro on are in the description. I will add more as I know more.

The back plate is white that leads me to believe they leaked the white one on purpose to get feedback on it and since everyone hated it they changed it to black which is much nicer, cheeky buggers.
TDP 175 which what should of been on the stock card in the first place, this gives it total of 225W of power but I hope it dose not take the extra power from the MB if it goes past that with OC.
Well see soon enough.

I'm sure they'll find a way to screw up beyond just power issues.  Fury was plagued by coil-whine for the entire life-cycle.  I have to imagine AMD has some room to screw things up for their partners as well.

I bashed on the first leak of the cheese grater like everyone else but i gotta say.

Now the 480 Nitro is looking pretty damn nice, the black anodized metal design brings less attention to the holes in the shroud and the back and top of the card are sexy as fuck.

when amd have there heads screwed on they do a great job. the hd7970 came out before the 680 and it was better. a huge number of 970's had coilwhine as well and it hast to do with the components used on the vrm area not the people who design the gpu itself.

Please stop quoting that garbage. The 960 DOES NOT DO WHAT THE 480 DOES. Spike in power of 1 millisecond does not matter. SUSTAINED power draw is what matters and only the 480 does it.

I want someone to make a no-frills 8gb model for little more then the ref. Maybe 240 euro? Save money and give me some cooling + power :P

The sustained power draw is only an extra 400 miliamps per pin on the pci-e connector. It's not going to harm anything because the power from the 24 pin go directly to the PCI lanes with no componentry in between.

Its still higher and it has still been said that it could cause damage. Not really to the traces but the connector it self.

It's less the price of the reference card in France :P it's 259€ here so I guess it'll be 300€ maximum.
