Parents won't let me spend my money?

Drkrinklez

One day I was with my friends at a card shop playing magic the gathering. I had 38 dollars and spent it all on cards and food, then my parents saw how much I spent and got pissed, even though it was my money that I earned. Now, they won't let me take no more than 10 dollars everywhere I go. I can't even get good food with that. How can I convince them other wise?

I have to agree with your parents here.

At the end of the month you should have more than you did the previous month.

That doesnt appear to be happening here.

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Your parents are trying to teach you to value money. You're complaining that $10 isn't enough for good food when that's usually my weekly budget for dining out (I bring my own food to work as often as possible). I mean, how else could I afford my 5930k and GTX 1080?

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

What else could a 14 year old buy besides playing cards and entertainment?

They are trying to instill the values of saving and frugality. Two very useful things. I know way to many people that were never taught this and are always broke.

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

I'm not working, though. Plus I'm not saving up for anything, if anything I was saving up for more cards

Again, they're trying to teach you to value money. I'm the only person I know within my age bracket that can drop $2.5k on car repair without a loan or form of credit, because I saved a really good amount of money for the sake of having it.

Saving money is a valuable lesson people need to learn, but on that same note, enjoy life a bit. I've met people who are painfully frugal lol.

You don't teach someone frugality by not allowing them to spend money.

My dad is very loving and caring. But when it comes to money, he won't let me spend it on something I want. Isn't that wrong?

That sounds quite a bit racist.
