i have the same card(r9 290 RMA upgrade), perfectly fine for 1080p ultra and 1440p high, upgrade in a few years instead.

I have this card, should I sell and upgrade to RX 480 8GB? 

Or is the card still capable to play most mordern game on 1080P with good FPS?

keep it, a good rule is to not upgrade until 2 generations off cards have passed or unless you cant run the games you want

If you had 280X/380 then I would vote for it but right now the 490 is what you want! :D

Thats why I'm waiting on the new cards (AMDs and Nvideas offerings) to drop in price. my GTX 770 is not fast enough for my needs
