Though powering .gov websites isn't at the core of the U.S. government's financial woes, certain agencies will take their websites offline if there is a shutdown on Tuesday. Ars is reporting that the Library of Congress, the National Parks Department, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Federal Trade Commission would shut their websites off in a shutdown.

 

Honestly, I don't mind, because those websites won't really affect me, plus they should be back up after a day or 2 or so. What are your thoughts on this?

Government shutdown doesn't mean all hell breaks loose. It just means the Democrats in the gov't and the Republicans in the Senate need to cool the f**k down.

It's shocking how people IN AMERICA don't know what's happening with their own government.

The Republicans are threatening not to raise the credit ceiling unless Obama abandons Obamacare, meaning certain parts of your government would (in essence) stop functioning (The Republicans made sure they passed a bill so they'd still get paid, though, even though the civil servants, large branches of the military, etc, wouldn't).

The problem is they don't have enough votes, and even if they did Obama would just Vito it, and even if he didn't this is just the first hurdle. It won't happen. This is just another "Strikes in Syria" scenario (American politicians flexing their muscles without having anything behind it).

We tend to not care, because whoever the president is a majority of us think he's an idiot. Also new in america is extremely depressing, all they Do is show news that depicts death and horror, Whenever something good happens, they cover it for about a hour, but if there's a landslide somewhere and it kills 2 people they cover it for days, i understand it's important, but the feud in politics and everyday common life in america is too much. Reason i like the U.K
