[Updated after Announcement] Microsoft announces XBox One S at E3

In less than 24 hours, E3 will start.

 

Microsoft will host it's even there for their upcoming products.

 

But we have a leaked image of XBox One S that was earlier from the XBox site itself.

 

Here it is:

 

 

 

It's 40% smaller than XBox One, 2TB built in HDD, 4K capability (gaming? idk), HDR, "Streamlined Controller" ? wut ? and Vertical Stand!

UPDATE:

 

It is official. XBox One S just went live.

 

Major improvements are the dimensions of the Console and a little bit upgraded Controller with it's new Bluetooth and increased wireless coverage.

 

The Xbox One S also includes a few other improvements compared to its predecessor. Most notably, there’s 4K Ultra HD video support (including 4K Ultra HD Bluray) and HDR capabilities for both gaming and video. Meanwhile, one of the console’s USB ports has been moved to the front for easy access, along with the controller pairing button, and there’s a new built-in IR blaster. One thing has been removed, however: the Xbox One S doesn’t include a dedicated Kinect sensor port. If you want to hook up a Kinect for voice controls you’ll need a separate USB adaptor. (Microsoft says that there will be a program to offer the adaptors for free to existing Xbox One owners who decide to upgrade.)

A special, limited edition launch edition of the Xbox One S will be available in early August with a 2TB hard drive for $399. Two standard versions will be available soon after: a 500GB edition for $299, and 1TB for $349.

Seems like people are getting confused about the Xbox One S and Project Scoprio. The Xbox One S is just a slimmer version of the Xbox One that is releasing this year. Its smaller, bulit-in power supply, has a 4K bluray player and HDMI 2.0 for the 4K content (from player/media). Project Scoprio is the "upgraded" Xbox One that will be releasing in 2017. Project Scoprio is the console that is said to have 4K gaming with 6 TFLOPs of GPU power.

Not bad, but I haven't been overly interested in any of the games released on console for a while, and since one of the few people I play games with just bought himself a new PC, I'll likely give up on the idea of buying one.

 

I do like this though, for what it is. Looks nice, and is a reasonable size (finally).

I hope we're mature this time around and there isn't a whole lot of PCMR commentary...

What's really annoying is the Xbox One has a bunch of dead space and what looks like a semi-full size optical drive. It seemed unnecessarily big from the get go.

This has actually got me hyped for E3. As an ex-Xbox fanboy, I'm just hoping this can do native 1080p at least

 

Also got me thinking with Sony not showing the new PS4 at E3: what if they're waiting for Microsoft's move first and then see what they could do better?

I'm guessing a Polaris chip as well. Which might be bad news for us gamers because it means little quantities for PC gamers and inflated prices.

 

Also I'm guessing as well that no kinnect bullshit will be mandatory, which means the price could also end up a tad north of 200. If someone manages to flash them to install full windows and steam on this I might even get one.

That's just what the consoles needed, with the ever growing digital distribution and installing on the platform. 

I like the design of the consoles, not a huge fan of the mesh like look though.

Slim well...I guess it is slimmer then the one but I wouldn't call it super slim. Well if it can do 60FPS at 1080 I will pick one up
