Do you think it's wierd to go out with your Audiophile headphones

Sitting next to somebody with loud, open-backed headphones is a pain. I hate people that do it. High-end closed-back ones? Those are fine.

I used to be quite active here.

Yea. It's fairly rude if others can hear your music. especially if you ride public transit. Some people like peace and quiet on their commute. Personally, I just use IEMs if i'm out and about.

I use my COP from time to time, it's not too bad but I don't really recommend it, I just tend to use IEMS when travelling and out and about.

I'd love to wear my higher end open back cans out, but I don't simply because I'd be quite afraid of damaging them. Also, I'd be quite uncomfortable wearing them as I think I might look kinda weird (though some of the cans I have do look quite nice), or like I'm trying too hard to be an 'audiophile'. When I'm out and about, I use my IEM's.

K7xx don't leak too bad at reasonable volumes. But I'm sure you looked like the coolest person on the train while wearing them.

I'm sure, but try to look cool with a pair of PSB M4U 2 or Klipsch M40 on, I have them and when I look at the mirror while wearing them, I look like a dork!:$ My Image One BT does look good though, but it's hardly 'audiophile' nor open back (impractical for outdoor usage due to sound leakage out, and extraneous sound leaking in unless volume's at some ear bleeding level).

Yeah, I wouldn't mind wearing my T50RP when I'm out and about, they do look good in a kinda retro way......and they do sound most excellent as well (mine's modded with Mayflower kit, Comfort band and Alpha Pads.....so lovin' them!)

Yeah, I'm planning on modfing mine, dbv #3, whenever i get time...

But i took some hm5 pads, as the stock ones are about as thick as my phone. And i don't have a phone from 1990.

My Superlux 668Bs came with a carrying pouch, but they don't fit around my neck...

I used to run with a pair of on-ears that were suitable for this type of stuff, but if it gets too big then I'd reconsider.  That's why I bought some of those Carbo Tenores from the stickied thread.

Never go out with open back headphones, you'll just be a dick to those around you. "Audiophile" headphones are typically only made for in-home use so as long as it's practical to use on a mobile device and isn't open it's just personal preference. I wouldn't do it though.

I've seen once an older guy in train with some Windows tablet, USB DAC / headphone amp and pair of ATH-AD1000X or similar model headphones (really huge ones) and he was listening to his music and no one did pay any attention since he did not crank volume all the way up. And we are talking about open back headphones.

On the other hand, I've seen countless guys with super noisy music in their IEMs. Those people must me deaf if they need such a volume for IEMs.

Not really, dynamic IEMs have to be ported for decent bass response since the drivers are so small.

Most of the time I feel it from people with those Apple Earpods. I think the primary culprit is the awful fitting in the ear which leaves a space towards the inner side.

That's because earpods really doesn't block the ear canal. Frankly wearing earpods in train, bus or even plane, blasting away the volume to negate the engine sound that buzzes through is bad for your ears.
