Which one of these SSDs should I pick?

Recommended Posts

the title says it, I'm currently looking for an SSD for boot and main applications (small ones)

Kingston SSD SUV300S37A/120G 120GB : $42
Patriot SSD Blast 120GB : $45

HIS SSD 120GB : $46

Samsung SSD 750 EVO 120GB : $49

SanDisk SSD Z400S 128GB : $51

Apacer SSD ProII Series AS510 128GB : $53

Corsair SSD Force LS 120GB : $53

Team SSD Dark L3 120GB : $53

Adata SSD SP610 128GB : $58

OCZ SSD ARC 100 120GB : $63

Adata SSD SP550 240GB : $64

there they are, the SP550 looks more appealing with its 240gb storage, but I'd like to know whether or not I'd be making sacrifice on speed with it, and yes.. since this is mainly for boot, the main "thing" here is the speed.

thanks

On budget I like the Adata ssd's more than others, could be personal preference. The OCZ arc and samsung 750 evo are also good options. Just avoid the V300 kingston.

why avoid the Kingston one? and is the SP550 sort of like the "old" one compared to the SP610 or they are just...."well, there you go, number..yeay"?

id go with the OCZ one here becuase there one of the few good brands when it comes to SSDs, sure Samsung is also good but im not sure how good the 750 EVO ones are.if you just want storage the Adata one is the way to do but im not a fan of them in any way

most of the lower end SSDs are a little slower than the full price top tier SSDs

but in general use you wouldnt notice much

if you want top teir performance, youll have to pay, since most of the cheap SSDs are TLC nand flash

well yeah I do agree with that but.. I currently have Corsair Force LS 60GB for boot only, no apps and stuff (well there are some, but only if its size is only MB), and I'd be using for documents only after I get a new SSD, the reason I use it for document only is that because my motherboard (ASUS B75M-A) only has 1 SATA3 6Gbps connector, so I'll be "putting" the 60gb SSD to a Sata2 3Gbps...which well you know, quite slow.. and I'd be using the new SSD for boot and main apps.

but still tho, if the speed difference isn't really that big I'll probably get the SP550

ah.. I don't really understand that :D, sorry

So.. which one is better in that list, without comprimising on speed... if they all are TLC chips then shush... the SP550 then, or save more and get an 850 Evo instead

the 850 evo is TLC but its so much faster than most others thanks to samsungs controller since its their own inhouse job

definitely worth the extra IMO, or look  into the Crucial models

the crucial isn't really that different in terms of performance, they are roughly on par, but since Crucial isn't really well know here and nor does I know where it service center here, I'd opt for the Samsung, thanks for you help :D

I just picked up a Trion 150 and ran it against my Evo 850 with Crystal Disk Mark.

The Trion was about 30% cheaper. It was also almost exactly 30% slower.

If speed is your priority, go with the Samsung.
