Blizzard Permanently Bans 1572 players in China.

Over the past few days, we have been taking action worldwide against Overwatch accounts who have been found using cheats/hacks/add-ons. We have been working hard to provide a fair gameplay environment for Overwatch players, and will continue to clamp down on players who violate the terms of service with appropriate actions; all illegal doings will be heavily punished.
If you believe a player is cheating, or if you have any information regarding add-ons, bots or unauthorised third-party program usage in Overwatch, please tell us immediately! You can use the “Report” button on the menu or email to cn_hacks@battlenet.com.cn

Everyone should have seen the bans issued today. For those of you familiar with NetEase and Blizzard, you should know our stance on cheating and hacks. Please do not harbour hopes of fluking past the detection system; justice sometimes arrives late, but it will always arrive. Do not doubt our detection and judgment, trust that we have ample proof before banning accounts. Those who are still thinking about complaining that you were wrongfully banned can forget it.
In addition, for battlenet users old and new, please be reminded that once your Overwatch account is permanently banned, the account cannot be de-coupled. This means that even if you buy another account, it will be a new account and all your friends and any inter-game content will not be carried over. Therefore, please treasure your account and refrain from any and all forms of cheating

As promised, Blizzard is fanning the hammer at Overwatch cheaters. In China alone, 1572 players have been named, shamed and shown the door. Western cheaters are faring no better. Judging by aggrieved posts on the forums of popular hack providers, Overwatch is proving difficult to fool.

Cheaters are being hit by serial bans even after buying new copies. "Got banned one day after the official release," one enemy of fair play recounts. "Thought I got detected for using RPM tools, because the game was crashing for it at that time.

"Bought the game again... didn't hack on it at all, just wanted to enjoy the game a bit. Two days later—banned again.

"Bought the game... again. But before doing that, I deleted Overwatch and launcher completely. Enjoyed it again without cheating only for a day."

On his fourth attempt, he purged his PC, changing hard drive IDs, MAC address, BiosDate and buying a VPN to throw Blizzard's anticheat off. It didn't work.

Well, that didn't take long. Blizzard's implemented hardware bans so everyone should think twice before cheating this time around!

I also believe that they made it a 40 euro/dollar game to slow down cheaters, they're doing a great job, unlike Valve.

It makes me sick how many people are angry about this. I like that they called out the hackers/cheaters on their China forums but they should just close down the whole Battle.net account. Sure, people will start creating throw-away accounts for this kind of stuff but for those who aren't smart enough then let them suffer more than being out a measly $40 or whatever Overwatch costs.

 

1) If people are going to hack/cheat on game A they'll also most likely hack/cheat on game B.

2) If people's other game accounts are in jeopardy they'll think twice about hacking/cheating.

The price is just what they think is the game worth, its not so much to fend off cheaters, that's more like a side effect that one of the reasons it has that price.

Building business risks into the price of product is a pretty common business policy. So I wouldn't be surprised if deterring cheaters crossed Blizz's mind when they figured out how to price the game.

 

And even if they didn't do it on purpose, it's working. Who wants to pay 40 dollars multiple times in order to be able to cheat? At some point you'd get tired of paying for the same game again.

That looks dull too. I personally like FPS that don't look so... Cluttered, I guess. I like more BF4/Battlefront style of FPS. CS:GO/TF2/Overwatch isn't really my thing.

It would still be a dick move.

Instead of making the game more expensive, why not work on making the game more secure?

I've played many free2play games which don't have issues with cheaters. Planetside 2 and Warframe are among the ones I played extensively the past few years; never have I met a cheater in those games.

Your sources are forums and early reports that turned out to be incorrect as they were based off assumptions. Your first source actually shows all the usernames that I mentioned.

Yeah I have played it. Seems like Black Ops 3 and TF2 had a baby. Both are alright on their own but together not really. But whatever it is a Blizzard game, anything they make is popular
