Start with a big brand like Traxxas and Losi. The ECX is a bigger brand then say NitroRCX but the parts will be so hard to find so shipping will be so much. Trust me it is cheaper to go big brand and not brake the parts as often

This was my first attempt at doing my own painting.  This was done a 2 years ago but I love sharing it with others.  Because I haven't had the time to do a second one. The photo don't do it justice.. you can't make out the pearl. I have a few videos one with just the pearl & the final look on my facebook page so I shared a link to them bellow.

It has 3 coats of a SpazStix Sapphire Blue Pearl & 3 coats of SpazStix Electric Blue. Painted on a ProLine Flo-Tek Ford Raptor body. Slash 4X4 Brushless with unknown brand shocks. Everything else was stock. Purchased from hobby shop this way & is my very first hobby class R/C. 

 

Pearl Coat Only. &  Finished Work

 

Currently running:

 

ProLine: Flo-Tek Raptor body, Power Stroke shocks front & rear, & extended body mounts.

MIP: X-Duty CVD front & rear

Traxxas: Stampede Talon tires Front & rear, blue aluminum castors, steering block & stub axels, & revo HD slipper setup

 

Future upgrades are castle creation mm kit and better tires like badlands from ProLine. Because I just a basher out to have fun trying to see what I can drive through, over, or under..  lol

I've sold off a few recently because I'm planning on getting a pair of X-Maxx's for my son and I but these are the three I'll never part with.

 

Traxxas Jato 2.5, this is my daily driver that's always in my truck for whenever I have some time to kill.  It's basically stock besides a Rx battery pack, Hitec steering servo, tuned pipe, and a Spektrum Rx.  I had a TRX3.3 in it for awhile and it was great for high speed runs on the street but way too much for a 2wd on dirt.  You can also see the front of my son's E-Maxx BE in the pic.

T-Maxx 3.3, it started life as a T-Maxx 1.5 that I bought in 2001 and the only thing original on it is the servo and bumper mounts.  When the wider 2.5 came out I upgraded the whole suspension and then upgraded almost everything again when the 3.3 was released.  It has a few other upgrades like a larger Ofna fuel tank, steering servo, tuned pipe, RRP trans and diff gears, and the Traxxas steel center driveshafts.

E-Maxx, this was was built from the ground up as a racer.  It has a Gorillamaxx G3 chassis with carbon fiber plates, Gorillamaxx G3.3 Race Suspension, UE hardened trans gears, UE Supermaxx 7.5 diffs, UE titanium center and outer shafts, UE Supershocks, and a Novak HV4400 system that actually still runs great on 4s lipo.  Just sucks that nobody races MT's anymore lol.

  • Integy aluminum front bumper with RPM plastic bumper attachment pieces (same thinking as above)
  • Unlimited Engineering Supermaxx knuckles front and rear
  • Unlimited Engineering Supermaxx shock towers front and rear
  • The upgraded traxxas shocks (I think they are called big bore)
  • Miscellaneous drive train parts (I can't remember the brand of everything that's in her right now)

I'm away at uni now so I don't have pictures, but as soon as I can get home for a vacation and grab some pictures I will post them.

I used to have almost a full Supermaxx with the Thunder chassis and the Victory Bulkless System, totally regret it now but when UE lost their machinist and prices skyrocketed I parted it out and built a Baja 5B.

How did the bulkless system work? (I'll admit, I haven't bothered to look one up at all). I don't think you can really go wrong building a Baja 5 though, that's a really nice vehicle.

Instead of two individual bulkheads it's a two-piece block with the shock towers, they're made from 7075-t6 aluminum and are basically indestructible.  I still have a pair and have been offered over a grand for them but I plan on building another Supermaxx someday with the Lightning chassis.
