Does anyone know any good websites for learning advanced things about computers. For example everything about graphics cards (what all the specs mean, memory bus, texture rate, etc.) I really like this video tutorial below but it doesn't cover everything to do with computer hardware. Only the advanced basics if that makes sense.

If you're interested in learning more advanced things about 'computers', that's a really general statement. There's so many fields involved in the development of computers, such as electrical engineering and nanotechnology engineering, to name a couple. I'm not sure what your current understanding of math and physics is, but if you feel confident enough, I would suggest researching more about processors and the transistors that make up that processor. There are many complicated processes used in the manufacturing of processors, such as photolithography. You could also read about the different types of transistors and how they have developed over the years, such as FinFET and MOSFET. From there, you'll probably discover relatively current issues in the world of processors such as how quantum tunneling is creating problems for the industry as a whole (I've written a report related to this and Moore's Law where I performed a statistical analysis of the past ~40 years of processor data in order to determine that we were reaching a bottleneck in what we could engineering using silicon). Research is currently being done by leading universities around the world in developing faster processors that are not necessarily silicon-based. Some examples of these are Indium-Gallium-Arsenide substrates or quantum computing. Even in the realm of quantum physics alone, there is so much to explore that just blows your mind. Don't let the word 'quantum' scare you.

 

Anyways, I'm very passionate about this area of computers and physics, as you might be able to tell, so I apologize for the big wall of text above. There's so much more that I could mention (like p-channels vs. n-channels and doping in transistors), but I should probably stop myself there. If you want to know more, or discuss anything I've mentioned, feel free to quote or PM me!:)

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

This is exactly the type of stuff that interests me, by 'advanced' I did mean 'advanced'. Do you have a job in this field (if so what is it), did you learn about what you know today through university or online courses, some other way? Do you have a link to this report you did?

That's great to hear! I'm actually just a high school student in the first year (soon to be second) of the International Baccalaureate Diploma program. I learned about these things mainly from my own research, but a significant factor that contributed to my interest into doing this research was from pcper.com. I highly recommend checking their articles out. They go into an excruciating amount of detail compared to LTT, which, in comparison, just skim the surface. In my opinion, the people over at PC Perspective are much more scientific in acquiring their data. Their videos are a good place to start (they have a channel on YouTube), but if you really want to get into the details, check out their articles - as that's where they report most of their findings. As for the other research I did, it was mainly on random websites like Wikipedia or whatever happened to pop up on YouTube or Google.

 

The report that I mentioned was an assessment I did in my Math course. It's a required part of the curriculum of the IB program for that course. You basically take math that's at (or above) the level of the course and apply it to a real-life situation. There is some personal information in the report, but I will edit it and give it to you if you are interested in looking at it (honestly I thought it would be pretty boring for most people to read). I also have links to some physics textbooks on quantum physics.
