Nvidia GTX 1070 Review

I don't expect any price drops, since GPU makers just place their card at whatever it should be for the same fps per dollar as all other cards on the market..

Quick math with the Rise of Tomb Raider benchmark:

  Hide contents

GTX 970
310 USD
1 fps = 6,3265306122448979591836734693878 USD

R9 380X
220 USD
1 fps = 6,3265306122448979591836734693878

GTX 1070

Price would be: 474,48979591836734693877551020409 USD

As you can see, the price per fps is almost exactly the same with the R9 380X and GTX 970 (with just randomly choosing one of the benchmarks) so yea.

I feel like part of that is missing. And I ment with the supposed 480x being Fury performance at $250.

The 970 is already dropping in price. NCIX has started listing some at under $400 CAD.  I expect the 1070 to be above $500 though.  RIP CAD.... :(

You can currently find the GTX 1070 for $230 USD on ebay so yeah... really cheap.

Do you mean 970? o.O

probably should have used a r9 390 to compare to the 970/1070 since it's in the same price range. the R9 380x is like $80 cheaper than a 970 and almost exactly half of a 1070 reference card. Also I absolutely refuse to name it founders edition.

I'm more excited for the GTX 1070 because it has much better price/performance, but that's just me.

Here here.

Gtx 1070 -> Reads "brand NEW 980 ti is now worth 350~360$, and the used one you own is worth even less!"

Can a fx 8320 at 4ghz handle this or the 1080?

No, the highest end an FX processor can handle within reason @ 1080p would be the R9 380 and GTX 960.

insisting you think for yourself means you don't and just have an excuse to deny evidence.

Ok so when I get my 1440p monitor you think I should go intel and make a new rig nvme would be nice too. I was really hoping on avoiding that but I really really want a lg curved monitor.

If you're going 1440p, you may be able to make better use of the GPU, but the CPU may still end up being a limiting factor in certain titles. Intel would definitely be desirable for a gaming PC, though.

I am thinking adding another r9 380 4gb I read that it would be just enough to handle 1440p with out me dropping 1400 on a new rig. I want to wait a year or two more before i build a new rig.

Someone do the math real quick. In $/FPS, if the supposed 480 was EST. at $250, and has around Fury performance, how would it stack against the 1070?

You can get a R9 Fury for as little as $480 atm but you can also get a 380x for $180

based on their Hitman 4k slide, and by putting the fury right between the R9 390x and the Fury X with an average of 39.5 FPS, a Fury equivalent card (480x or 490) in Hitman 4k max settings + FXAA at a price of ~250$ be

Fury($519): 13.13$/FPS

R9 480x/490($250/300): $6.3/FPS Let's say it's 300$ that would still put it at $7.59/FPS

1070($449): $12.13/FPS

waVy5XV.jpg

Obviously the 1070 might do better at 1080/1440p but there was no slides for those also displaying a 390 and Fury X

I think Dollar per FPS should be calculated by the hardest thing to run, 4k atm not where that particular GPU is comfortable.

Yah I wish I could see an lg monitor with my own eyes. I can decide between a 21:9 screen at 1440p or a 16:9 4k screen I figure the 21:9 will give me better field of view. Thanks for that graph though can you link me to the whole article please?

"We tested this card at 4K and 1440p", first test shows 1080p. Was that some last minute add in @nicklmg

Man, I wish this was compared more to the 980, as opposed to the 970. It better have beat the prev-gen 2nd tier launch card. I want to see how far we've come from the top tier launch card from over a year and a half ago.
