i3 running at high(?) temps with Cryorig H7

Did I put the thermal paste on wrong? I put a small line down the middle and I'm getting 45c at idle, did I not screw it in right?

Those temps are alright. But still a bit unusual. Nothing to worry about. I have a question though, is the CPU new? Did you put on too much thermal paste? You are meant to put a small dot. I am not a big fan on the line or X method etc.

I put a small line, the CPU is only about 5 months old.

Check if the thermal paste never smeared off the metal part. I had that happen to me once.

Before you do that, check your task manager and see what percentage your CPU is running at. 

And what CPU cooler do you use?

I reapplied the thermal paste and it's fine.

My 4770j runs at 35c idle now too, normally its at 29-31... but room temp went up 5c cause of the weather

If youre roomtemp is still the same then you might have a small problem

ambient temps are a very big factor, for example if it's like 30ºC (86ºF) that's not bad, but if it's like 12ºC ambient that's horrible. After that's accounted for if the fans are locked to a very low speed that will also let things get pretty hot

Well, you didn't post back what temps you are getting now. So we don't know if you have accepted 35-45C being normal idle temp or that you are getting 30-38C which is normal idle for cooler and CPU (when room temp is under 23C).
