Cheap and silent fan?

h3rm3s

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for a low budget fan. I'll be using it for a very old server that I found somewhere, and I'd like to use the server without it feeling as if I'm next to a fighter jet.

I'm not expecting total silence, for that I'd be using water cooling. The dimensions of the fan do not really matter, as long as it's a reasonable size.

Thanks!

What size do you need 120mm, 140mm, 200mm? what do you mean dimensions don't matter?

What's your budget? Can you link us to where you're shopping?

Why doesn't size matter?

If you want silent, you won't find it cheap. That's how it works with fans. Just find any fan within your price range that isn't from china.

Thanks!

The motherboard doesn't have a standard size. The processor isn't Intel or AMD, it's Via. The case the computer is in right now, is not a standard tower size or server rack size, again, it's something very random. Because of all of that, I'm going to make myself a new case (I know some guys who have a laser cutter and stuff), and the design of the case will partially depend on the fan size. I hope that makes this clearer.

I'd say max 40€. Well, I'm just shopping on Amazon, http://www.amazon.de to be more specific, http://www.amazon.co.uk is also fine. I believe those 2 deliver to Belgium. I don't know if http://www.amazon.de is available in English, but I think it's pretty straightforward.

Well, size doesn't matter because: (This is a reply I sent so someone else, I didn't want to rewrite it)

The Noctua Redux series, especially the non-PWM models, are incredibly quiet and not nearly as pricey as the turd-colored fans.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.
