Only thing I might have mentioned in addition to everything there was that if you keep humidifying the room with this, at some point it will be as humid as it's going to get and this will no longer work.  I know he said it works better in lower humidity and that it humidifies the room, but some people may not "put 2 and 2 together", so to speak :)

True. I think he did mention something about circulating the air in the room at some point, but if not that would have been a good point to add!

Other than that it was a fantastic video!  Lots of accurate, well explained scientific principles, and a useful device for sure :)

Would have been far more impressed by this if the video had contained actual footage of the thing working.

Really neat project! And it actually works! (not entirely practical, but it's not like LTT is known for that).

And hats off to whoever did the visuals that helped Linus with explaing the concepts (I'm assuming Ed, or a new staff member that we haven't met yet?)

However, he audio seems a bit off on this video. Like the audio from the lav was muffled by Linus' shirt or something and gain was added to the audio in post.

Hm... yeah @nicklmg definitely tell the guys not to take this apart if they haven't already - there's so much more testing to be done with it!

Interesting cooling system.

Seems completely impractical for most home or business applications but I think it is pretty neat all the various off-the-wall ways people come up with to cool their systems.

I find it quite fascinating the inelegant but functional Frankenstein system setups people make.

If a build log contains zip-ties, hot glue, wood and the phrase "an old ___ from a ___" then I'm in 100%.

 

I would have liked to see a bit more in depth building sequence.

My favorite parts of LTT videos are watching the people build and test the systems, the problems that arise and the often, let's say, "unconventional" solutions they come up with along the way.

U could say, that this is a "open" radiator with infinite surface area.
Isn't this basicly like a half of Air Conditioning Unit (the thing that controls humidity and temp in a room) ?

Q : How much heat can it actually exchange (max. TDP-eqe value), and how it compares to more exotic cooling solutions (custom water, extreme air cooling) ?

Because what is the point of lowering temps, if you can't use them for higher OC :)

You should hijack the radiator on an AC unit (integrate a copper pipe liquid loop into the cold side of the existing AC unit radiator with a bunch of solder), and get much cooler than ambiant temps on a DIY setup. Power costs be damned.

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

How it works ?
It's quite simple :
DC current "takes" heat from one side, and transfers it to the other side.
It works only in ONE WAY (side 1 => side 2) and it cannot work "in reverse".

Because it's a "powered thing", you can go lower than ambient.
Also : Filling/isolation is required, because water will appear on cold surfaces.
+ U need a really powerfull one to keep CPU cold (68W is minimum, for OC 150W+ is required).
