If you're wanting insane performance you could go for any of the new Broadwell -E CPUs coming out soon:

6950X - $1723

6900K - $1089

6850K - $617

6800K - $434

 

I'm going for the 6800K in my next build, though if you just want to play League or TF2, this is probably awful advice I'm giving you.

Overall. Doesn't get any better than that. You'll have to overclock it for maximum performance.

OC Single GPU -> 5775C (yes it actually does outperform the 6700k in more instances than it loses. No you shouldn't actually buy it.)

An i7 I'd argue has terrible value for the performance you get over say a Core i5. If you have a look at AnandTech's CPU benchmarks for games, the i5 keeps up with the i7 easily. So at the moment, the highest end i5 is the best you should get because you don't get much improvement after that.

 

Games are not very CPU taxing.

i7-4790k 310$ brand new right now. great cpu's. and rest of set up isnt pricey either.
