Aaaand it's gone!

On a serious note though, in my country the FE cards became available today on all major retailers and after searching about 10 sites, only one EVGA model is still available. It also retails for about $1,100 (for those who thought the Aussies were screwed lol)

Wouldn't bother with the FE personally. 

 

Aftermarket cards are much better.

Yeah, I agree. Why bother with an expensive reference design (aka mr. internal blower style fan) if you don't have a small volume itx build? Not only that but when you can opt for a custom made PCB that has 2 8-pin connectors as EVGA's FTW edition you can remove the cards wattage throttling and get a good overclock.

Im not interested in them either, personally i'll be getting the MSI Twin Frozr VI 1070 once it's available. It just kinda scared me a little that the more expensive ones are sold out already, will have to get mine when pre-orders start here.

What, you actually had those for sale?

 

Ours is pre-order only, and the shipments start at June 06 (+ the actual shipping time).

So can you please bring up so more detailed information about wattage throttling? For specific problems with recent cards? No because you just made up that term along with everyone else freaking out about 1 8 pin connector. It will not make a difference for 95% of the users, the only thing the 2nd 8 pin connector (or 3 6 pin potentially) for cards is for advanced cooling for world record stuff, everything else will be the exact same, with just a bit better voltage regulation and power delivery. Do not spew BS to people if you do not understand what it brings, please go watch JayztwoCents recent video on the EVGA 1080, as he will debunk what you said.

3x 6 pin hasn't been done in a long time. The most we will see for the 1080 is either 8+8+6 (Classified K|NGP|N) or 8+8+8 (Hall Of Fame).

Did they happen to release the pricing in all countries, for example I was wondering how much the gtx 1070 was gonna cost me in Canada. How long do aftermarket or non-reference cards take to be released generally also if anyone knows since I'm probably gonna get the msi 1070.

It's usually done in a country by country basis, considering the 1080 is around the same price in Us and Canada( taking into consideration the exchange rate of course ) the 1070 should be around 493 CAD. Just so you know, here in my country the official prices were announced about 10 days ago. The official prices for AUD, EUR and GBP are also out already.

God if that is true that gets me excited, it might not bankrupt me to get this card, I just hope my one track mind can go in another direction while I wait for this card to be released, more specifically the aftermarket msi version of this card hopefully its not too long after. I guess we will see with how long it takes for aftermarket ones to come out for the 1080 as a basis for comparison.

Yep, I'm just as exited as you( and for the same gpu model lol ) the prices are MUCH better then the 980ti's out there and this will be my first really high end machine in a long time( I built 2 other computers before but none of them even had a video card in it )

Nice to know I'm not alone and same here I've never really had what you would call a super high end video card or machine for example. Like I'm gonna be upgrading to the 1070 from my R9 270x Dual X Edition also it will be my first NVIDIA card too. I've heard good things about them to so that is making me quite excited for it as well. Amd is good price and performance for what you get, and my R9 270x is kind of a beast also but I think its just his time. (I say hes a beast because in the witcher 3 Im pulling like 42 fps right now on a however many years old card so). I think this time around with this new card and the addition of an ssd and maybe a new hdd i might be able to classify my computer as high end or extreme when I'm done with it. Which I hope will be a nice feeling.

The reference card can barely keep it's stock boost clock for ten minutes of gaming.  That is on a test bench, a.k.a... the best case scenario.  You talk about the 95% of people, then you must realize that 95% of people want a card they just plug in and run games on.  The stock settings suck ass and users would lose out on the potential of the GPU, while constantly hitting the thermal limit of the card.

 

We will see much better results from board partner, and aftermarket, coolers.  Why do you think the EVGA FTW 1080 has two 8-pin connectors?

Yeah im with ya the gtx 1080 in canada here is 909$ plus tax probably making it over 1000$ in total its quite hefty, its why im gonna opt for a 1070 instead plus it better suits me anyway. Considering I 1080p game and I may kick it up to 1440p in the future once i get that card.

Thing about it is do you plan on getting reference or aftermarket? If aftermarket might be more then 2 weeks I'm hoping not much longer after the reference card releases.

I've not decided yet. the one with the stock pcb so I could slap a nice gpu block at it :) And of course it has to have more than just a single 8-pin power so probably looking for the aftermarket ones! Combining custom pcb that takes an custom waterblocks + better power delivery would be the best of all!
