Anyone else getting "This driver is not compatible with this version of Windows" for their GTX 1080 installing on Windows 10?

theonefoster

I've downloaded the correct driver from the Nvidia website (win10 64 bit gtx 1080 driver) and it failed to install because it's "not compatible with this version of windows". I downloaded the GeForce Experience program and had it automatically detect and install the driver for me, and got the same error. Weird.

Anyone else? Someone else has the same problem here -> https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/938253/geforce-1000-series/gtx-1080-not-recognized-and-can-t-install-368-25/

Update: the windows 8.1 driver give the same error. Not that I really expected that to help.

You have to enable test driver signing.

Same thing happened early on with the 980 And 980 Ti not being "Good enough" For windows 10, and Samsung Magician used to refuse turning on RAPID Because you were not on Win 7 Or later (Windows 10 Was not registered in the software.)

My current build - Ever Changing.

Thanks for the help, but unfortunately it didn't make a difference. I really hate dealing with drivers.

I really know how it feels when you have new hardware and can't use it(motherboard arrived about a month after my gpu last time i built  a system) but for this driver issues, it might be better to wait as they should be resolved soon(maybe overnight?) and it will save you a headache.
