Do Apple design their phones to be slippery

I'm selling one of my aunt's companies iPhone 5s (5 not 5S) and have been messing around with it (I haven't used an Apple product since the 3GS).

It's got a completely shattered screen and I can see why, the aluminium back has less grip than Stephen Hawking. 

It's as if they have designed it so that you will drop it and have to get it replaced.

I can't believe that a phone that came out nearly 4 years ago and is completely smashed is still worth £50-£100!

Meanwhile I am unable to sell my old Lumia 920 which is in perfect condition only for €50...

That is however probably 10 times more slippery phone than that iPhone.

The whole point about making it slippery is that it will be dropped and broken, meaning apple sells a new iPhone.

Just like how Apple makes there IOS run slower on older devices just so you have to upgrade or deal with the slowness

I felt like the aluminum on my 5s and the glass on my 4s were pretty grippy, especially compared to the plastic on the GS2 or carbon fiber skins on my 5s. The glass on my S7 is also extremely grippy (I was previously using a carbon fiber skin on my s7 and it was extremely slippery).
