HTC One M8 battery dead?

     About a month ago, I got a one M8 from a friend since it was dead. It was dropped in melted butter if I remember correctly. What happens now if you plug it in is you get a battery symbol on the screen of the phone, with the orange light at the top blinking. The phone begins to slowly heat up. Is this just a battery problem?

 

 Could it be fixed with this?

Bump. My current phone is a Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3. If I fix this M8, it will be WAY better.
