Lets just hope it will actually be like this. I wonder what an OC'ed 1070 will perform compared to a stock 1080, because with the 970 vs 980 the 970 came kinda close.

Those comparisons have got to be the worst things on the planet, you can OC the card you're comparing it to as well. It's not like you can OC the 970 and not the 980, etc.

Manufacturer suggested retail price is exactly what it sounds like, a suggested price. What the vendors will actually price them at remains to be seen. And when have aftermarket cards ever sold at msrp at launch?

You know what's easier than buying and building a brand new PC? Petty larceny!
If you're worried about getting caught, here's a trick: Only steal one part at a time. Plenty of people will call the cops because somebody stole their computer -- nobody calls the cops because they're "pretty sure the dirty-bathrobe guy from next door jacked my heat sink."

It will probably settle at $399 for most cards. You probably can get low quality heatsink and fan 1070 for $379 though.

Wait, if you do the math. I divided 17557/506CAD and 21828/778CAD and results are 34.69 firemark score/$ and 28.056 score/$ for 1070 and 1080 respectively. The 1070 is indeed much better VALUE for your money. HMM guess ill upgrade 970 to 1070 then sli 1070 in the future for 4k gaming

Yea, it will probably actually be sold for $399 once they actually launch. If not, wicked, but I seriously doubt it will be $379 the first few months.

My daily OC beats a 1070 at stock, note I am using a 980, not a 980 Ti ;)

Yes, but then the 1070 OC's... What then?

If someone has a bad price / performance card how does that change how intelligent they are when recommending other people? I have a 980, I would never recommend a 980 Because it is terrible / performance.

Weird, I'm still happy with mine, but true... I would recommend the higher cards before the 980 at the moment.

$379 for Titan X level of performance is not bad but is more than 970's launch price, Nvidia is pushing the price segments with little opposition. Not only is the price range moving up, the founder's edition delays the lower priced cards indefinitely. There is the setup for launch day and "out of stock" message on every retailer page, even the founder edition stock may be low. All of it serving a purpose of pushing the more expensive founder editions or moving up to the 1080. There is little incentive for 3rd parties to sell a $379, custom (8+6 pin?) card when they can push the reference editions for $70 or in 1080's case, $100 more.

Eventually cards at $379 price point will launch, not bad for a card that could master 1440p.

This is LTT. One cannot force "style over substance" values & agenda on people that actually aren't afraid to pop the lid off their electronic devices, which happens to be the most common denominator of this community. Rather than take shots at this community in every post, why not seek out like-minded individuals elsewhere?

980 Ti or 970 IMO, no reason to get a 980 For most people unless they find a really good deal.

I put my phase on the 980 Or just get a 980 Ti for the price and water cool it.

I expect Palit and Gainward to be closest to $379 then MSI in the middle and Asus with Evga around FE price range.
