Sell gtx 980 and buy 1080 or buy another 980?

Go to solution Solved by DioOmicida,

Are you changing gaming resolution?
Are you picking up a VR headset?
Does your current card under perform?

Neither. Use your 980 until the 1080ti is released.
If you don't, you'll be disappointed again at the time as well.

So I biult my first pc about a year ago and bought a gtx 980, but I kinda feel bad since the new gtx 1080 came out looking so much better for the same price I país hehehe. My question here is, should I sell my gtx 980 (I can get around 415 usd) or maybe wait for the gtx 980s price to drop and buy another one? Thank you for your advise.

1080 because SLI is never a super good idea and a single more powerfull card is almost always better :)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Go with a 1080 it's more powerful than 2 980's In sli

Only limited to VR, in other benchmarking videos.

1080 is about 1.5X to 1.7X performance of 980 SLI in most games benchmark

A lot of the hype around the 1080 has been pretty thoroughly disproven by the more factual reviews.  It's still a great card, and my vote is upgrade to a single 1080.  I personally will be upgrading from a single 970 to a 1080 later this summer.

Check out these two which I found to be very informative:
