Gtx 1080M faster than desktop Titan x? (Coming in June)

LeapFrogMasterRace
Quote

ASUS is teasing its new overclockable gaming laptops powered by new GPU, that is supposedly faster than desktop GTX TITAN X. ASUS:

What we can say is that one of the highlights from the lab is an overclockable gaming laptop that will rival even gaming desktops. We were told it is a concept machine and thus they are still in the process of making it even more powerful. The exclusive info about to be revealed is without overclocking but is already faster than any laptop on the planet (not including alternate futures or dimensions). Without overclocking this beast can score almost 21K (Performance) in 3DMark11, edging out even the mighty GTX Titan X in this benchmark!

ASUS GTX 1080M (4)

Nothing is official however it looks to be Pascal

Quote

It appears that mobile Pascal GP104 will do just as good as its desktop variant. What’s important here, this score was achieved without overclocking. It means that this particular graphics processor beat TITAN X in 3DMark11 out of the box.

Why did they flip the key on the right from the Y axis?
Seems like a strange thing to do.

Since the desktop variant isn't ready for 4K gaming, there is no chance the mobile version will be either.

However, the eventual 1060M is going to make usher in some rather cheap, high quality 1080p mobile gaming.

That graph tho. The key is absolutely pointless because nearly all the bars are the same color except for the unknown card and they are already labeled on the side!!

Lol the X-axis scaling makes the 980ti looks bad because it looks so far behind, when it is really only like 500 points less than titanX lol, we are talking the 20,000 points level.

For a second I thought Titan X was 2x better than 980Ti. Anyhow, I don't believe them for a second a mobile chip from this gen will be better than a Titan X.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

That will be the desktop version of the GTX 1080 which will fit inside a notebook. Alienware is planning on doing this too, just based on the TDP of the card which will be 180W so it has to be a desktop version.

Shure it will runn this fast... but only 60 seconds until the thermal capacity is used up and the cooler actually has to dissipiate all the heat. Or with than fans at 100%, but then it will hover over the surface if it wasn't a 5 kg beast.

Mineral oil and 40 kg aluminium heat sinks are a perfect combination: 73 cores and a Titan X, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Oil

Should be about right. The 980M was basically on par with a 970 so it would seem reasonable that the 1080M will be on par with the 1070

I just want something that will run games well on a quality 1080p 15" IPS screen for a couple of years without breaking the bank or melting unobtanium. :)

This would be cool but I don't expect it to perform as optimistically.

Saw this early and yeah it's impressive but that has got to be the most fucking hypocritical chart I've seen in my life: Make it look as if it was more than double than a 980 TI when in reality it's just like 7% faster or so due to the stupid 200 out of 200,000 increments.

If I tried to pass that on a business meeting I'd get fired for being a lying sack of shit.

I forgot who was arguing about the 'misleading' graph of AMD stock price not too long ago but he/she should see this shit graph and try to defend this instead.
