I always knew LTT were nVidia fanboys always but this come one dude's i haven't seen in a single Review that the 1080 beats a 980TI in SLI DAMN about cheating scores for Marketing purposes.

I don't think they ever claimed faster than 980 Ti SLI

 

Although it's possible that it is in VR. What I don't get is whether Simultaneous Multi Projection can be enabled on the software level, since it doesn't seem like a feature that would require a specific piece of hardware made for it.

Chek edited post the LTT review is a FRAUD!!!!!!!! LinusTechTips is always giving good scores at nVidia, praising always nVidia to the sky then AMD they always hated the brand. that is why no one has a AMD card build in the systems there because they are being sponsored by nVidia.obviously.

But yes, I don't believe LTT's benchmarks anymore. Not because I doubt that they're right but because they're nowhere near as complete as what DF did for instance. Not even as complete as TPU or Toms or Anand.

It obviously says 980 SLI, not 980ti SLI.  Given That it is 60-70% faster than a 980, and that sli scales around the same percentange, it makes sense that it would win in games less optimized for SLI, and lose in more optimized games.

But numbers don't lie, Pascal's CUDA cores can perform less instructions per clock (I know that's a CPU-only metric since I'm not sure GPUs have their own instruction sets but whatever) than Maxwell could. There's just more of them and they're clocked higher.

I thought I read somewhere where Tom Peterson said Maxwell and Pascal have the same exact ipc.

Please do. Looking at numbers against the 980 (more CUDA cores, higher clockspeeds) it seems to have just a little bit worse IPC but it's close to the same.

Weird since they've used Nano's in a lot of builds... but yeah... mkay... sure...

I don't have the time to rewatch (gotta go to bed now soon). I do recommend watching at least at the 2 hour mark as its very interesting. Tom is fun to listen to.

EDIT: just remembered I read the IPC talk on OCN. I'll see if I can find it tomorrow.
