I had a 1600x900 >21inch monitor until about a month ago when I got a 27inch 1080p monitor.

Best thing is I have a R9 390 with that tiny monitor for so long :/

I use a 1650x1050 monitor as a second screen and my fiance uses a 1440x900 one as her second.

I just recently (last 6 months) upgraded to 1080p monitors. I see no reason to go higher on a screen that is 21-23 inches.

1280x720 25" early LCD TV / monitor here. With a black "Line" on the right side. And a white scratch on the midle. +Screwed color calibration.

Just makes my 1440p IPS look so much better when I get to use during the weekend....

I played on a "1050p" monitor for the first few months, with a 4790k & GTX980 at launch lol. I've moved up to larger than 1080p monitors now and I'm loving "2.5k"

I use 2x 4:3 monitors that are under 1080p resolution.

My dad uses a 720p tv screen as a monitor.

I used to use a 1200p monitor but now I'm using a 1080p monitor.

I switched to a 1080p screen in 07 I think and never looked back. I'm on 1440p atm, but I'm going back to 1080 to make 144Hz easier to drive.

What I've come to realize over time is resolution is very important for work flow for me, but as far as gaming does, I don't care wayy to much as long as it matches the screen. I care more about the performance of the screen and the graphics quality than anything else. I could see myself gaming on 1600x900 and not caring really.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Me too. It's an old HP 20 inch 1600x900. I've had it since college and it's always worked fine. And then my laptop is a 1366x768 display.

Haha, I have the 2009m as well. I just don't like the glossy screen; but alas, it is my secondary monitor. I honestly never thought I would still have it this many years on, let alone still use it every day.

I've got 1080p screens. I don't need higher pixel density, but I need more workspace. I have 4 monitors (and counting).

My laptop has a sub 1080p screen, but other than that the lowest resolution monitor I have is an lg studioworks 995E which runs at 1600x1200@75Hz, and technically it's above 1080p since the vertical resolution is higher.

You should consider buying an old CRT, those things are beasts (considering) in terms of colour reproduction and refresh rates and are pretty cheap.

I had a 1280x720 monitor until around 2010 when I bought a 1920x1080 monitor, although the laptop I used was 1366x768.

Now I'm on a Dell UP2715K 5120x2880 monitor and it's crisp as hell

1600x900 is still very good option for lower end setups. When I had 270x, I had to lower my resolution from 1080p to 900p in games like Witcher 3 to get 55-60 FPS instead of mid 40s on any sensible settings. I think there is no point on getting 1080p monitor if you have GPU like 270x or GTX 950 or lower, and you plan to play new games. You will struggle to get sensible performance and will have to set your settings really low, just to get few more pixels, image quality difference between 900p and 1080p is not big, especially for smaller monitors. If my younger brother gets his first PC this year, I will surely get him 900p monitor instead of 1080p, there is no point to kill performance or use lower settings just for few pixels.
