GTX 1070 and G-Sync Monitor vs. GTX 1080 and no G-Sync Monitor?

iPC

Until benchmarks come out, we can't be sure, but I'd bet the 1080 will be a great deal. Good enough that G-sync isn't really important.

Wasn't the 970 already quite good at 1080p gaming? If the performance rumors are true, the 1070 will be more than capable for 1080p and the 1070 will serve more value than its flagship priced counter part.

I say go 1070 and g sync monitor.

oh. Isn't 2K 1920x1080? Since 4K is double that at 3840x2160p? Anyway, if that's the case then I say wait to make your decision and look at the benchmarks of the latest cards of the titles you want to play.

BTW 1920x1080 is HD

2K is 1920×1080 or similar (i.e. 2048×1080, etc.)

2.5K is 2560×1440 or similar (i.e. 2560×1600)

Sorry. I thought it was more of a general PC build question.

My mistake. 1920x1080 is 2K. and 2560x1440 is 2.5K        Sorry.

Technically FHD, HD is 720p

1440p is QHD

I would wait for the benchmarks and be sure that Pascal is everything Nvidia says it is. Polaris 10 is right around the corner and Freesync is way cheaper than Gsync.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Specs don't tell the whole story, benchmarks do. You can save 200 bucks sometimes going to Freesync. I get wanting to get a build together but the 1080 isn't the best investment if you look at what happened to the 980. The 1070 will most likely lose to the Polaris 10 490x.

No, but I bet we hear something at Computex. The 1080 beats the 980 because it got a boost in Cuda cores, that's why the TDP went up. I play most of my games in 1440 using a 980ti all locked at 60fps and I'm not even overclocking. At the least you want to wait for the benchmarks. Then go from there.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Do you think the GTX 1080 will beat the Polaris GPU around that price point?

nobody knows...but from the informations so far it looks like polaris will have a hard time competing with even the GTX 1070 in terms of performance...can they sell if for cheap enough i guess is the question.

Yep, the monitor you picked out is Freesync which is AMD, not Gsync which will be more expensive. So you ether have to increase your budget or go AMD.
