Depends on what we are talking about.

For gaming, portable desktop

often cheaper and more powerful + easier to upgrade

For web browsing, laptop

Cause they are more portable and i don't need more power

At this budget this is near impossible, unless you plan on using it for very basic video editing and gaming.

If you want to reply back to me or someone else USE THE QUOTE BUTTON!

You won't get anything past a i3 for a laptop and you would struggle to get a very good desktop with that budget so I would advise maybe saving to like $500-600 and you would be able to get a much better Desktop :D

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

You'll be lucky, seriously at $350 (thats what £240) it is going to be a very low specced laptop, you would need to buy second hand bits etc to get any sort of desktop (and despite Linuses scrapyard videos I would not trust items sold to me from cars in darkened car parks etc) that was any sort of use .

Of course if you play nothing but "teddy bear games" and don't mind waiting a week for each page to render you could use just about anything.

I am fed up of questions about what is best with absolutely no context.

ie what is best a pound of Grapes, a Spanner or a Labrador?

Ok I mocked up a quick PC parts picker list. It's 360 bucks and is the cheapest thing I could get with potato grade GPU and a somewhat decent CPU: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/LMQ6nQ

Pros: Cheap

Might run minecraft

Cons: Doesn't look good

Is pretty shit

If I were you I'd wait a little to spare 500-600 bucks for a CPU and GPU upgrade.

Y u no work computer?
