Camera recommendations?

Hi. So, I'm going to Norway in the summer and I wanted to buy a camera and learn how to use it and then go to Norway and take some time lapses and videos. However, I have a tight budget (up to $250) and I was wondering what kind of camera I can buy that is budget friendly, but has 1080p pictures/videos that has good quality?

i was in exactly the same position last year. how funny is that

i went with a nikon d3300 which was a good choice but outside your budget.

at that budget i would probably just take pictures with my phone. which phone do you have?

5s is actually hard to beat at that price point. i can show you some pictures if you want.

if you use your 5s, how much memory you have on phone? cause if your at 16GB, its gona be hard to do long time lapses, considering you may only have a little bit of storage remaining

i have a 32gb and only 15 or so is used.

i was actually just going to grab a smartphone tripod and do the timelapses on the iphone, and do the rest of the video recording on the camera, plus photos obviously

if your driving a lot use hyperlapse mobile outside the front of the vehicle. my internet is to slow to show but it looks awesome.

maybe raise your budget a little bit because if you spend a little more and get a dslr it will last a long time.

i wasnt planning on driving and timelapsing, just going to oslo/bergen/flam and hiking to a good spot and recording for 10-20 minutes

oslo and bergen are really nice cities. i went 3 weeks with a caravan threw norway and sweden. prepare for some rain in bergen and a bunch of tesla's in oslo.

yep i heard norway (well, all of scandinavia) is suuuper rainy

it actually isnt that bad. but bergen has like over 230 days of rain in the year.

Iphone 5S should be good enough for most things, just make sure your lense isnt dirty

perhaps buy this: (portable battery, portable storage, wifi)

or just offload to cloud services like google drive, dropbox, mega, flickr (1tb) etc....

that's interesting. i probably will considering i'll have a couple hours of timelapse footage and i dont want to use my native storage for all of that

Ill be honest ive never used the device, check reviews first 
hopefully theyve made updates to the software because its ancient apparently

nikon d3300 with 18-105mm kit lense. but you could do better with better lenses.
