High Temps on H100i GTX

Hello!

My 4690k is cooled by a H100i GTX and is peaking in the high 60s with Prime95 (26.6)

It's OC'd to 4.4GHz but is rock solid at 1.165v.

Is there any reason why I'm still hitting the high 60s with this liquid cooling and low voltage?

did you put enough thermal paste? Is the mounting pressure sufficient to make complete contact? Im pretty sure Prime95 is known to make the CPU hotter than usual too.

That's not hot for Intel CPUs.

it is when its cooled by an H100i GTX. My temps are that with a 5820k at 1.35V 4.7ghz. My friends 4690k and 4790k with a 212 evo run at these temps.

That's definitely not hot for a Haswell chip running Prime95.

Any stress test will because it's unrealistic.

Thanks for replying!

I used the thermal paste that was already pre-applied so I assume it should have been sufficient.

Even if I used Arctic Silver or similar, I'm sure I'd only see a 1 - 2C difference.

In GTA V, however, it can peak at 71C.

you should use AIDA64 instead of prime95, i heard prime95 damages your cpu (i doubt but it does seem to produce a lot more heat than other synthetic tests)

also, did you apply enough thermal paste? does the cooler wiggle when you try to move it? is the pump running on high? how bout the fans?

also, thermal paste might need some time to set in (maybe a week or two, depending on what paste you're using)

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

hotter than usual in comparison to other benchmarks and stress testing programs.

Any stress test program will make the CPU hotter than it would get in real-world usage.

You've got the rarest H100i GTX on earth if you're pulling those temps on any x99 at 1.35V while running Prime95.

I used the thermal paste already pre-applied to the block.

It's on very tight, however the fans even on 100% will not go above 1080RPM.

That's P95 for you. I'll use Aida64 or IETU before P95.

That's normal for Prime95. Try Aida 64.

I used to be quite active here.

It's been running in AIDA64 for a bit now and it's currently at 65C.

Is that normal on a H100i GTX?

Don't fret, your cooler is working as intended. :)

let me ask you one question.
I have the H100i v2 and my pump is not vibrating.
Your pump is vibrating/sounding/doing any noise?, or it's quiet like hell?.

Look at this video that i recorded when i change from quiet to performance mode:  http://es.tinypic.com/r/fkpmxe/9

there isn't a vibrating sound, but my unit has a sound like electricity...

I'm not at home at the moment, but when I switch it to performance mode, the pump's RPM does increase by a lot.

My fans, however, hit a maximum of 1080RPM, no matter what I do with the curve etc.

My problem is now fixed, fans were only 3 pin, not 4 so I couldn't control speed.

Pump speed can go up to around 2700, but down to around 1000.
