Is it normal for cables to look this unorganized?

Recommended Posts

It looks completely fine to me. My cables are a lot messier.

I never tidy up cables in places where I can't see. You'd be surprised what's going on behind my desk at the moment...

My cables look awful too. It's kinda hard to make them look nice although it is possible, but I don't find it needed. I just put them all behind my desk and they are out of sight.

That's tons better looking than my mess... I have cables everywhere, even some running through the air at shoulder height while sitting there. Cable messes are a must in my man-cave! (Though I'm frankly not keen on dusting everything off once in a while... it takes forever...)  ^_^

Cheers,

Linus

So I recently moved my pc from on my desk to the floor to make room for a second monitor I'm going to buy, and I realized that that cables coming out of my computer look super messy and unorganized. Is this bad for the computer (maybe airflow idk maybe anything) and is there any way I can make it look neater? Maybe zip ties or sleeving maybe, ooooh sleeving would look nice. But if a cable or my mouse broke, it would be a whole lot of work to fix. Any input on this? (haha, input, like vga)

get some zip ties, unplug all the cables and tie them at multiple places until they look like a single cable then re plug all of them back but make sure you've left ample length to reconnect them back

I like using these over velcro cable ties..

$(KGrHqF,!rUFGiNcKOPuBRqLub6MHw~~60_12.J

they're idiotically strong and flexible. but Velcro will do the trick get one of those super long rolls from a sewing store and you'll be set for life

Does anyone even use PCIe SSDs?

With my mac I bundled all cables neatly together , so there was just one grey tube going to the power outlet. Problems started when you need to change a cable, you see? ;p

You can tidy it up if you want, I do.

I layer my cables in a certain order. I plug in and organize the power cables first, then do displays, then I do my peripherals and then my ethernet cable.

Personally, it looks fine.

I do something similar. I bundle all of the cables for each device with a twist tie and a hole punched address labeling which device it is. It's worked quite well for me thus far.

With regard to OP, I've seen far worse with less cables.
