Battlefield 5 to be unveiled on May 6th

EA has confirmed that a "Battlefield World Premier" will take place on May 6th a 9PM BST, confirming previous rumors that a new Battlefield game would be announced next week.  Right now this game is rumored to be called Battlefield: Eastern Front, hinting that the game will be a return to the battlefields of WWII. 

The "Eastern Front" title for Battlefield 5 has been rumored for quite a while now from leaked EA documents which show both the name of the game and names of potential DLC packs which include Fallen Dragon, Prototype Warfare, Titan Assult and Independence day.

The term Eastern Front is an obvious reference to the Eastern Front in World War II, where the Germans and Russians armies battled until Germany was defeated in 1945. One thing worth noting is that the supposed announcement of the game comes just before Victory in Europe Day, or VE Day, the anniversary/celebration of Germany's unconditional surrender and the end of WWII in Europe.

BF4 is 3 years old. BF3 is 5 years old. 

 

There's not much that can be added to a FPS anyway. This time they're just changing the time period.

What I mean give it longer 6-7 years and get the writers to really put a good story line together and go balls to the wall on graphics for the tech that will be available at that time.

Battlefield 2 was epic. Loved that game. BF3 was kinda meh. BF4 was even more meh with a lot of bugs on top. BF5 needs to remake the entire series to be interesting. Especially due to hardline being a shitty expanded BF4 DLC at full price.

 

Also no one wants 130+$ games.

But they'd have to try and keep the current game alive. That's difficult to do. BF4 had a 4XP event a while ago and that was great for the few days it was on. Now it's back to standard play. Sure the game still gets some updates here and there but there's nothing groundbreaking. The missions is just the same old. 

 

Also keeping a game going for that long would be a console life cycle. Those guys would be a bit pissed that the dev made one game for the platform and nothing else.

Off topic a bit but did anyone else watch that video you have in your main post? I wish I played against people like he did, they don't shoot back! What the actual hell, that video must be staged. Like when he cut the corner a guy had the drop on him staring right at him for like 3 seconds then he looked up and took him out without a scratch.

Story doesn't really factor into Battlefield. Teams are fighting - that's about it.

 

Battlefront, despite being a pretty boring, bland, and content-less game, has good graphics that are significantly beyond Battlefield 4's. And I imagine Battlefield 5's will have slightly better graphics than Battlefront.

so for me id love ww2 but i doubt it,  id be putting money on near future  using  as much BF4 assets as possible  set it up as a precurser to 2142 with the PAC fighting for freedom or something against the European union (eastern Front). With battlefront 2 and mirrors edge i just think dice would be stretching itself super thin if they went for a game with all new assets since they still using the same engine they can just carry as much over as possible having the prototype stuff from last bf4 DLC becoming more refined slowly maturing over all the following DLC into the final one with full on 2142 titan gameplay and ending with a  ceasefire basically till X years later 2142 war breaks out
