Microsoft clearing Lumia Stock in preparation for next generation Windows phones

Daniel Rubino has been saying for ages that Microsoft was partnering with Intel to design custom hardware. If one was to believe this, they could assume that it could be a different processor than what's currently in Asus ZenFones

So what you are saying is that using x86 applications with continuum is a bad idea and they shouldn't do it? Because that's the only thing I think Microsoft can do to save WP. Only they can do it (Google and Apple can't), it is technically possible and it would be a really solid USP.

I would no longer have to carry my laptop if that was the case, because I could just plug in my phone into my school's monitors and continue working from where I previously left off.

But even then Microsoft needs to fix their drivers cos WIndows 10 Mobile drivers are shitty. Even Android has better graphics drivers than Windows 10 Mobile.

So the rebranding is to trick consumers into buying a phone they won't like right now, but might like in the future? I think the problem is that the phones runs Windows Phone, not that they are branded Lumia. It's not like it's the brand that determines the hardware and software.

So the rebranding is to trick consumers into buying a phone they won't like right now, but might like in the future? I think the problem is that the phones runs Windows Phone, not that they are branded Lumia. It's not like it's the brand that determines the hardware and software.

They can and should use x86 but i don't think they will. Particularly because they talked about ARM support. I suspect they will have an emulator which translates ARM to x86. It would require something which is super fast (something the snapdragon 830 is rumoured to be). It would be cool but most people wouldn't benefit from it or wouldn't use it.

 

The rebranding is to get consumers and developers to change their attitude to one which is more positive and pleasant towards Universal Windows Platform.

 

A few days ago, I took to twitter to inform the world of Snapchat's deceit and how they promised to deliver a Windows Phone app (around a year ago) after being asked on twitter if one was coming, but they never delivered on their promise.

 

A day later, I got quite a few likes and retweets unlike anything I've had before.

Probably a derivative of the SOC used in the Surface 3 since the TDP, was too high.

 

Maybe we could see a quad core version with cut down TDP and graphics.

If somebody says "Apple" you tihnk of the iPhone, iPad, iMac, beautiful products
If somebody says "Samsung" you think of top end phones, TVs, cameras

They do, they think of MS Office usually. When someone says Microsoft this is what I think: Surface, Lumia, Azure, Office, Visual Studio, Skype, Groove, Bing, Edge

That's because I use everything on that list except for Azure.

Converting from ARM to x86 (which strangely you said backwards, in your post you’re actually talking about converting x86 to ARM, not the other way around) is already difficult enough, and is only realistic because the parent CPU is much, much stronger than the child CPU in terms of purpose. Emulating an x86 operating system of any kind on ARM is impossible just by logistics. The whole point of using ARM CPUs is that they’re low-power and efficient for their own purpose – Full-fledged Windows is far more likely to happen on a real x86 chip from either Intel or AMD.

I meant ARM to x86. Some people say that Microsoft is working with Intel on custom Hardware for their next phones.

Hardware will be x64 complaint (really sure). OS is my concern since Windows Phone currently doesn't natively support 64 Bit. It runs in 32 Bit mode.
