a lot

like, thousands if you want to make a few cents a day

also asics need to be programmed for certain tasks

so something made for mining one type of algorithm will suck or not work at all for other algorithms

this is why if you can code your own processor you can make lots of money mining stuff

unless you're a software engineer and know a lot about hardware coding, then this is not possible for you

maybe look into getting a job that pays minimum wage

you will make a hundred times more money than mining

this is what its like:

-spend $5k on mining asics

-spend $200/month on a power bill

-live with the extremely loud mining rig

-deal with thousands of watts of heat being made 24/7

-sit around and make a few dollars a day

-make like 10% back on what you invested then the coin you were mining drops in value

-give up and find a real job

It depend on the algorithm, as Enderman has already brought up.

Asic miners is a thing, it is basically specialized hardware made to

perform great at a specific algorithm.

Any algorithm that has asics is basically not viable on a traditional

gpu, but there are algorithms out there that still haven't been

cracked by asic miners.(making an assumption, not really up to

date on this stuff)

I would assume Ethereum as suggested above is based on such

an algorithm.

So yes, you can still mine, but it kinda depends on what you want

to get out of it.
