i am not sure, but is a pcie 3.0 slot needed for todays games that we play or are going to be released? is there any performance drop if we use a new generation gpu in a pcie 3.0 and in pcie 2.0 to see any difference?

Asus recently announced the Sabertooth 990FX/Gen3 R2.0. It has PCIe 3.0 support.

AMD cpu's don't have a pcie gen 3 controller, so there haven't been many boards with the slots.

There isn't really much performance difference in games if you use PCIe 2.0 so it will be fine.

I have a Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 i am pretty sure its 3.0, but i don't have my manual on me i will have to check the online manual.

I know the Sabertooth R2.0 does.

and possibly the new ROG boards, not sure about other manufactures. you would have to check the specs.

got to love Asus components

thank you I will keep a look out for the sabertooth motherboard from asus. I'm predicting the cost will be high, won't it?

The in-game performance between pcie 2.0 and 3.0 is about nothing... it depends on your graphic card actually, if you use pcie 3.0 card, it is faster in trnsferring the data... that is just the difference...
