At 1080p a 970 is plenty, however a 980ti will allow for higher resolutions later on without dealing with sli. I have two 970s and couldn't be happier

If you're running 1080, then the 970 is for you. As for the streaming/recording/editing thing, you're going to want some more CPU horsepower so spend the money you saved by not buying a 980ti on an i7.

Well if money is not big issue go for 980Ti. [Keep in mind thats just mu perspective]

There will be some guys who say 980TI is waste for 1080p, but for me its something like more feature proof.

Lets say for example you max out every game for 1 year at 1440p with 980Ti. At 1080p you will be able to max out for 3/4years.

Project Redline:

♦CPU: i7-5820k  ♦CPU Cooler: Kraken x61 ♦Mobo: MSI X99A SLI ♦RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 4x4GB 3200mhz ♦GPU: Evga 980Ti Hybrid ♦Case: NZXT H440 ♦SSD: Samsung 850EVO 500GB ♦HDD: WD BLUE 1TB 7200rpm ♦Display: 1280 x 1024

If you seen the build i will be getting the i7 4790k. Do you think this will be the best cpu ?

Do you plan on gaming with both monitors at the same time?

You can't really do that because the center of your view would be right in between the two monitors.

An old Volkswagen or a Ferrari? Go with what you have money for, 980ti is maybe too much for 1080p but you won't have to change it as quickly and it will be ready for 4K. And if new games on 1080p come out, you will be always up to date as even now some recommend 970 (Rainbow 6 for example)

I need S340. But more Define S'ish

Don't listen to the GTX970 is enough for 1080p, it's not.
I've got a GTX980ti Hybrid on a 1080p@144Hz monitor and there's still some games you can't "max out" to get the constant high frame rates for a 144hz monitor.

If you can afford a GTX980ti get it, you won't regret it, it will certainly last you longer than a GTX970...

Thank you all for your input i think im going to go with a 980ti. thank you all :)

980 Ti Owner as well, and I think you'll love it to bits. I game on a run-off-the-mill 1080p panel with 60 Hz, and boy some games just like to eat VRAM on any resolution. I play games like Ark: Survival Evolved (I know, not optimised at all yet), Rise of the Tomb Raider, GTA V and that sort of demanding titles and some of them still have the guts to dive below 60 FPS sometimes, the rascals! >:(

Main rig: Intel i7 6700K @ 4 Ghz with Silverstone Argon AR06 + Noctua NF-A9x14 PWM, Asus Z170I Pro Gaming, 2 x 8 GiB Corsair LPX Red @ 2.133 Mhz, MSI GTX 1080 Founders Edition, 2 x Samsung 850 Evo 500 GB, Corsair SF600, Silverstone Raven RVZ02 (no window version).

For on the road: MSI GE72 2QC Apache with 16 GiB RAM upgrade.
