I often cringe when Linus and Luke start talking cars, but I do have to agree with Linus' observation that pickup and acceleration can be very important and often overlooked.

I've had a few sporty cars and a few underpowered family cars and I felt more in danger and a danger to others in the underpowered cars.

Getting on a highway from an on ramp or where two lanes merge together, it is so much nicer to be able to spot a good opening and have the power to get the car into that spot rather than to hope the people you're merging with are not complete jerks and nicely let you into the lane.

It is frustrating and scary seeing an open spot but knowing your car can't make that opening and instead you have to try to merge in with the 6 cars behind that spot that are crammed way too close together and their actions are making it very clear that they have no intention of "giving up their spot" to let you in.

These Tesla talks really hurt...making a car is easy. You build a nice car, than management comes in and says: build it again, same features but make it only half as expensive. That's when it gets hard.

Right now, a Tesla would need to cost  25.000$ more to make any sense as a business venture. Telsa lost 20.000$ on every car they sold in the first quarter, how is this good? or interesting?

Luke while I personally want Tesla to be my first car after getting a decent job. 215mph is totally not suitable for anything my family does, my friends do and what is required to do for work in Ontario in several cases. Also with the crazy temperatures the region gets I still need to be proven that the electric car can handle Canadian climate at its worst, especially that roof in hail. It would be a nightmare in winter time to have to replace that roof because every week there was a hail mixture. Linus is totally correct here, and your mileage seems to be a minority from everyone I know that can do 300-400km somewhat regularly. The electric cars seem to be mainly for high traffic, high density cities rather than rural areas. Especially considering there are only a handful of charging stations in Ontario.

Tesla did just that... that was the plan... Why would the average person care about business venture?

What did Tesla do? They are still burning money like crazy. They don't even have enough money left to survive 2016. Anyone looking at AMD and their numbers knows that it is really bad what they are doing. But for some reason no one in north america seems to realize how close to beeing bankrupt tesla is. I would love for Tesla, so make money and really change the car game, but they are just not.

I don't get Linus' hybrid argument. There are piles of videos of people doing road trips on super charger networks. Notably all over Europe. Doesn't seem difficult at all.
Surely paying nothing for the energy trumps small amount of time lost to charging?

"The wheel?" "No thanks, I'll walk, its more natural" - thus was the beginning of the doom of the Human race.

"These Tesla talks really hurt...making a car is easy. You build a nice car, than management comes in and says: build it again, same features but make it only half as expensive. That's when it gets hard. "

That is exactly what they did.

But they innovated, made an electric car faster and longer lasting than any other. Tesla Stock is over 200, but they aren't rolling in money due to the actual innovations they are doing in house. Being close to bankrupt does not mean the company is going to vanish either. They already changed the car game and will continue to do so but like any new company they aren't going to making billions in profit over night. You seem to have a misconception on how businesses work.

The problem with Matte is that some manufacturers achieve the Matte texture by spraying on this rubber-like coating on top of cheap plastic (which would normally be glossy) to make the item's build quality look and feel more premium. That's all nice and good but after several months, that rubbery coating tends to degrade into this sticky mess that attracts lint and dust and leaves this sticky residue on your skin when you touch them. This kind of material is actually used a lot in products made in Asia, and the thing is that it is often hard to tell from a picture or just by looking at it if the surface in question is actually a Matte Plastic finish or if it's just treated with that rubbery coating. And believe me once that rubber coating starts to go bad, you'll either need to throw it out or just deal with the unsightly dust and lint, or worse tolerate the sticky residue it leaves on your skin if it is something you have to touch frequently. You can actually strip the rubbery coating off of plastic surfaces with some alcohol and a lot of elbow grease, but doing so can be a major pain depending on how thickly they laid down the coating in question and how uneven the coated surfaces are. And even then, you'd be hard pressed to remove all of the coating, meaning that you'd end up with a pretty unsightly end product. In either case, if several plastic items start going sticky and gross on you, you'll probably start to lean towards purchasing things with glossy plastic, knowing that at least it won't have that dreaded rubber coating that will eventually go all sticky and gross on you.

They kinda have had phone, tablet, kindle holders that clip on to your bed or other furniture for several years now. Actually, they're commonly sold in a lot of gadget and celphone shops here in Asia and are pretty easy to find. They're called Lazy Pods. Just google them if you want to see what they look like. There are quite a few different styles available already.
