Bob and Linus is so awkward. Bob and Linus aren't the same level of excitement as the 24hr live stream. But Linus' case idea does suck. Hope Bob changes it. 

Rod and Luke however started awesome. Can't wait to see Rod add a flamethrower.

My take on it was they were poking fun on the sort of adverts that make ridiculous claims about what their product can do. They set it up like they were going to show how their skin can "protect the phone" from a bullet. But subverted our normal expectations of this type of advert, by just showing the phone being destroyed.

 

I thought it was actually pretty funny.

I just can't stand dbrand to be completely honest, they're irritating and I can't watch basically any tech channel without hearing about them.

I'm guessing the YT release schedule is one per week - is the Vessel one faster, or still weekly but on an earlier day? I'm tempted to sign up if the episodes will drop back to back. Netflix has changed how I watch content for the worse it seems.

Kijiji is actually an American brand owned by eBay, but the site hasn't really caught on in most of the USA -- and nowhere NEAR to the same extent is has in Canada where it has eclipsed CL in almost every way. Still, to call Kijiji ads "Craigslist" gets the idea across without having to re-explain it to an audience unfamiliar with it.  Is it any different, in substance? Still, what's the point in taking time to explain all of that and make the whole thing seem yet more foreign to an American audience when you just explain it as "Craigslist", show a screen shot or two, waste no time on explaining it -- and everybody "gets it"?

One of the charms, indeed, perhaps the central attraction of Scrapyard Wars is that it shows Linus and Luke doing exactly what many of us already have done. Instead of a mondo successful YouTube reviewer getting a crate of "free review gear" and building a 7 Players 1 CPU system with his contacts at major electronic companies, they are out there dealing with a modest budget and the frustrating flakiness of flakey and shady sellers on CL and Kijiji. It brings an immediacy and personal recognition of our own lives into the situation that the viewer instantly recognizes. That's ME. I've done that!

And if it isn't yet you, it easily could be. "All I need to do is Click >>here<< and I am in the game."  CL is as common every-day life as it gets.

Why ruin that sense of familiarity and immediacy to American viewers by adding a Kijiji layer to it, then having to translate it explain it as being "the same but better". It adds nothing to the show and indeed, may harm uptake of its premise in a streaming audience that is short on attention and patience (until you hook em in, at least).  

If your point is that you have never seen them checking Kijiji.ca -- I am certain that they have done so often in every single season of Scrapyard Wars. That doesn't mean it makes it to video though, for all the reasons I mentioned.

One thing I don't get, is why so many of the YouTube comments are about clothing and appearance.

 

Do people seriously watch a series like Scrapyard Wars and spend their time thinking about what the guys are wearing. I honestly don't get it.
